Enkidom
I woke up this morning (for the fifth and final time, my body appears to have decided that when it comes to somnolence it is a sprinter rather than a long distance runner, short bursts of sleep followed by nice long breaks of wakefulness) with what feels like the tipping point of my brother-in-law's cold (or man-flu as my dear sister rather unsympathetically calls it ) ...you know, when you've got that slightly stuffy feeling and there's the sensation that someone's been at the back of your nose and throat with a fine grade sandpaper? As I was getting ready for work the sandpaper-y feeling started turning into one of the really annoying tickles at the back of your nose that you know mean you are going to sneeze at some point. Probably when it is least convenient. I tried everything to get it to come out, an experimental sniff of my tea-tree conditioner in the shower (which sometimes works but this time just left me with a blob of conditioner on my nose that I didn't spot until I was shaving later...it's lucky I live alone!) to the biggest lungful of coldish air imaginable when I left. Still nothing more than the stubborn tickle. It persisted through most of the bus ride, until I woke from a semi-doze, when it became persistent but still stubborn. I could picture it sitting there going "you just wait, leave the heated bus into the sunshine and that's it, gotcha". That would have been too predictable of course, no it waited until the sunlight caught my glasses just so, halfway down Cornmarket Street. That triggered three fairly powerful sneezes on top of each other, which pretty much only happens to me on the rare occasions I am coming down with colds now...sort of "AAAhhheeeshoooo..ishoooo...esshhooo". Though it also cleared the tickle nicely, so I am now dosing myself on vitamin C to try and cut the cold off at the pass, because I really don't have time for it at the moment...it can come back later on in the term if it must thank you very much! Sneesee
***Off Topic*** I just love your quote, that is from one of my ALL-TIME favorite movies! Seriously, that was a cute observation, how you struggled with that tickle for such a long time. The thing about photic sneezing I have noticed with my husband is that the angle of the sun has to be just right, and lately, the sun's angle is changing because of the change of seasons, I think. Anyway, it's more difficult for him to catch just the right glare to get a sneeze, and sometimes, like you, it waits until he least expects it.Your ob is wonderfully written as always. I hope you manage to ward off that cold (wait, who am I kidding, of course I don't! ). Anyway, take care, get lots of rest, fluids, Vitamin C, and sunshine! Thanks, and Bless You! Link to comment

March Hare
GRMNDZ, Dom, it is that I don't want you to be sick... only that the thought of you coming down with a cold is le turn-on, yes. Maybe it is because you write it so well. (And the conditioner detail is hilarious XD) Link to comment

Enkidom
Thank you people, I'm glad you enjoyed...pretty much seems to be on a holding pattern at the moment so the occasional somewhat embarrassingly loud single but not much more. Make up your microscopic mind you silly virus! Link to comment
