Lalena Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 This is really more of a story than an obs, but it's not fiction, so I'm going to put it here.My friend and I were sitting outside the student center today talking. While I was speaking she interupted me mid sentence and said without taking her eyes off of me, "bless you." I thought she was being religious so I said, "Um ... thanks?" She replied with, "No, not you. That girl that just walk by sneezed."I know this isn't an exciting story, but I just thought it was very strange that she said "bless you" when clearly the girl wasn't able to hear her, and she felt the need to say it in the middle of our conversation. Of course I was very upset that I was so self obsorbed at the moment that I missed a wonderful obs, but the situation made me smile.
Aisha Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 hehehe... how funny that she still wanted to say bless you even though the girl wouldn't here it! Cute! That would make me smile too.
Sneesee Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Wow, this was actually cute and very ironic! Something like that happened to me yesterday while I was out shopping with my friend Trish. We were at a party store, looking for decorations for my upcoming Halloween Party, and I was standing there, showing Trish a really cute plastic cauldron, and telling her my idea for it. Form way behind me, I heard a strong female sneeze, and tried to ignore it. Then, the woman sneezed a second time, and again, I pretended not to hear it, and never turned my head. I looked at Trish, and she whispered, "Awww, bless you." And I thought to myself, "There is no way that lady heard her!" But, it was still a cute thing that both of our friends did! I know Trish pretty well, and she believes very strongly in Karma and stuff like that, so I think she does it regardless of whether or not the person can hear, or even whether or not they acknowledge her back. Perhaps that's how your friend feels, too, Lalena?

Lamborghini Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Cute! I remember something similar that happened back in tenth grade, about two years ago. Two girls and I were sitting in the cafeteria, when some girl that sneezes often walked some distance away from us and sneezed about four times. One of the girls I was siting with said bless you. The other one just smiled. I didn't think much of it, until now!Lamborghini
Nicole Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 My ex used to do this! It happened a lot when we were in the car or out at restaurants. I wonder how good my poker face was because I always thought it was the hottest thing...and you can bet your ass he didn't know a damn thing about my fetish.

army-girl Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I don't think any of my friends did that, but it sounds kinda cute ^.^As for you being self obsorbed, I think there could be an earthquake, trees falling, stars crashing, bombs going off, and all other hollywood special effects, if anyone sneezes - I'd notice AND! - to Sneesee, very important note, take pictures at the party, loads of them! the people have a right to see (and hear if possible )
