Trillium
This is my first obs, so please be kind. I was going to wait awhile to post one, but tonight presented me with a good opportunity to share.Usually doing the laundry makes me sneeze quite a bit. I'm not sure whether it's the dust caught in the dryer lint trap, or perhaps some mold in our basement, but whatever it is, it gets me. My husband normally does the laundry because he only works part-time and I bring home the bacon, but since he's been on vacation in Europe for almost 3 weeks, the duty has fallen to me. So I was doing laundry tonight, and thought I'd share with you this obs.For the first couple loads of laundry I zipped in and out of the basement, trying to avoid spending much time down there, because I knew how it would affect me. (I do like to sneeze, it's a relief, but the rest of the allergy symptoms make me miserable.) So I was able to escape sneezing thus far, but my nose was tickly and itchy, as were my ears (a sure sign that my allergies were acting up again). This last load from the dryer, though, was pretty big, and there were some sweaters that needed to be folded, so I decided to fold them downstairs while they were warm rather than get them wrinkly taking them upstairs to fold. At about the 3rd sweater, the tickle in my nose finally became irresistible, and I began to sneeze. HuhISSHHHHoo, HuhISSShHHHooo, HuhISSSHHHHoo. *sniffle* And three more. (I typically sneeze triples.) I groaned, and bundled the sweaters upstairs to fold. Guess I'll have to iron tomorrow. So there's my obs, I hope you enjoyed it. And I'm still sniffling and left with an itchy nose/throat/ears. Time for the allergy meds, so I can sleep. . . . . Link to comment

Trillium
that was a very nice first obs, thanks for sharing hope your allergy symptoms other than sneezing diminish, so you can rest.Thanks. As is typical with me, I'm having more allergy problems today (I think it's my dusty car), but nothing too exciting to write about.Very nice obs. And off the subject, I like the name "trillium" -- I think it is a flower...Thanks, I'm happy you liked it.Trillium is indeed a wildflower, Trillium grandiflorum, three large white petals in an inflorescence about as big as the palm of your hand. (The flower is shaped a little like Kythe's avatar.) In the spring, the little woods in our backyard is covered with hundreds of trilliums, so many that it looks like a late snowfall. Link to comment
count tiszula
A very fine and detailed self obs. Laundries are often a good place for obsides; but I've always assumed it is the soap powder that makes them such agreeably sneezy places. Well, experiments could be conducted..... Link to comment

Well, experiments could be conducted.....Thanks, Count, glad you enjoyed it. I believe you're right about the scent of the soap powder causing sneezing. If I were to use regular scented laundry detergent, I would react even more strongly. (Have experienced that.) Link to comment

Trillium
Do you think maybe it's the laundry detergent that makes you sneeze? No, not last night, although that's been a huge trigger for me in the past. I've taken to buying the "free and clear" kind without scent, since I'm really sensitive to perfumes and scents in soap, detergent, hand cream, etc.I suspect it's primarily the dust from the dryer floating around after taking the dry clothes out. Guess I need a mask! Link to comment
