An Eye Itch Made Me Sneeze

Today my eye began to itch and it made me sneeze! It's done this a couple of times. I don't know if there's some sort of connection, like the same connection that might be in photic sneezing, but I thought it was kinda strange.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Not precisely. But when my allergies are bad, everything itches, including my eyes. I don't think it's the eye itch that makes me sneeze at that point, I think it's the allergen that provokes both the itching and sneezing. Just my 2 cents' worth, perhaps others are different.

That's happened only once or twice for me. And that was when my alleries were pretty bad. It wasn't exactly the itch, but the whole eye-rubbing thing that brought on the sneezing.

Absolutely this has happened to me. There have been times that I have had itchy eyes and I've rubbed them or put pressure in the inside corners up near the start of my nose (I tend to do this so that I don't rub off all my eye make up) and it's caused me to sneeze. I've also been known to sneeze when I've done allot of crying. There is a definate connection between the eyes and a sneeze. I think we all know that. Stands to reason since our eyes tend to get watery when we sneeze. :blushing:

When I was a child, I did have allergies that I eventually outgrew. The sneezing would begin with itchy eyes, and like someone else said here, I would rub my eyes, and as soon as I started rubbing them, I would start sneezing a few minutes later.

Even now, I sometimes get a strange itch in my eye that will travel down into my nose, and I'll sneeze.

oh, god, yeah. I actually have a thing with that too, but it's a little different from what other people have said...I have this thing where sometimes in winter, when my hands and feet get cold, I'll have a huuuuge sneezing fit (got it from my dad-- very embarrassing as a kid @ school), and those sneezes ALWAYS start with a tickly feeling in my eyes. not an itch exactly; like someone is inside my head actually tickling the back of my eyeballs with a feather. and if I'm in a situation where jumping into a hot shower or under a blanket to warm up isn't an option, and I can't stop sneezing, I end up pressing my hands into my eyes. I know it's weird...but since you asked.

Well we know the areas are closely related. In one thread about the breakdown of a sneeze posted here a little while ago, an article explained that the runny nose that comes after a normal sneeze comes from the tear ducts emptying into the nose.

Yes, rubbing a spot on my eye sometimes makes me sneeze. It only works if that spot is ichy, witch isn't very often, so I didn't include it in the "what makes me sneeze" description in my prophile.

Oh yes this has happened to me many times, and I'm not allergic to anything. For example, I have sneezed when I have tried to suppress sobs. I guess it's the tears getting me sneeze through whatever passages or canals or such they travel.

(on the sidenote - this gives me an idea what would be my ideal man. He would start sneezing when he's about to cry )
