Enkidom
Today has been one of those days about which those of us in England often say "we've had a lot of weather" (because we are obsessed with it, it is true! ). We've had 4 seasons pretty much in this one Friday - it was blowing a gale and pissing it down this morning, then was sunny for an hour or so, then gray and damp but mildish, now grey and wet but cold. However this obs happened this morning, when it was icy cold and throwing it down. Now there was no way I was going to stand out and wait for a bus on a day like this, even if they were reliable. I'm all for reducing my carbon footprint, but not for masochism I'm afraid! I keep my car nice and toasty warm so had just had half an hour of comfort...then the heavens opened fairly soon I got to the car park, you know the sort of rain that you can barely see through and soaks you right through in seconds. Shame it's at least a minute to get to the park and ride bus really! I rushed as fast as I could to the stop, getting lungfuls of nice, cold stormy air on the way, then got straight into another warm, toasty, dry vehicle. This was great, except for the fact that two sudden changes in temperature and humidity in rapid succession provoked a tickle which quickly turned into a quite loud and somewhat obnoxious sneeze, sort of an "Aaarhiiisshhooo", which provoked a couple of "bless yous" and some smartarse telling me I needed an umbrella - no s&*% Sherlock. Brushing my sopping hair out of my face I gave a somewhat abashed thank you, then started to head upstairs only to be hit by a second, somewhat less obnoxious "aaatischoooo". It must have been less obnoxious because this one didn't dislodge my hair again. That appeared to clear my head - and make me resolve to pick up an umbrella! Link to comment
Sneesee
Awwww Dom, I love that the first sneeze was so unabashed that your hair went flying! How dare anyone make such comments! Seriously, this was such a great observation, you write so well! Sneezing while wet, from just about any reason, is very yummy! I do love those sneezes in the rain, from drastic temperature changes! tma
LOVE reading your obs. They are just So *You* and that is Wonderful. Love the bit re: the weather. Sounds sort of like here. I really don't think that I'd miss the weather here if I migrated East. As for the comment from the one person- I know that it isn't very "Brit" like- but you could always say, "Here's Yer Sign". *Response to people stating the obvious- can't remember what country comic it was from- but his bit was a riot*Oh... and belated blessings. That's Bill Engvall, part of the Blue Color Comedy Tour! He's hillarious! And I've actually done that to people I know, when they state the obvious like that. Sorry to threadjack! Many blessings, Dom! vote_for_pedro
Oh my! The thought of a handsome guy standing in the rain and ... dang ... *is giddy* I have one question. What's it like when you're not having a lot of weather? Nah, I get it. We have four seasons in one day all the time in the town where my university is. Come visit! I think my old roommate who used to sword fight with foam rubber weaponry is still up there. You'll feel right at home! Link to comment
Enkidom
Thank you all, I'm so glad you enjoyed My hair absolutely will not behave itself when wet!Well when we're not having a lot of weather we are mostly complaining that we don't like what we have, it's either too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry etc. etc. ....LOL. And I do know "here's your sign", it's class, but I settled for a monosyllable instead because I am one of those people that likes to put myself "in a bubble" on public transport. Link to comment
