BF with a cold

It’s been a while since I posted, and you know what that means...lots of sneezes to catch up on!

My poor little kitten got sick a few weeks ago...I had been sick at the end of the week, but was doing better by the weekend, and was over at his house. He mentioned having felt like he was getting sick, but going outside and working, and throwing it off. Too bad it didn’t work... :blushing:

Sunday when I was at his house, he seemed a bit sneezier than usual. He did his usual round of morning sneezes, but seemed recovered. Then a bit later, he sneezed five times in a row (when I wasn’t in the room of course! It always works out that way). He had several other random sneezes, enough that I even asked him what was making him so sneezy, but he didn’t know. Monday night was the day before elections, and since we were working at the elections and had to be there at 5 in the morning, he stayed over at my house. We were sitting on the floor playing a card game, when he got that presneeze look. He sneezed, I forget, two or three times, and my mom made a comment about it sounding like he had caught my cold. Two or three sneezes in a row isn’t so unusual for him, so I expected him to deny it, but instead he agreed. My mom suggested I give him some various medicines we have that are supposed to prevent colds, and he asked for a decongestant as well. I got him the medicine, and we continued playing, with a few sneezes here and there. By the end of the game, he was sounding distinctly congested, and was blowing his nose enough to make it pink. His sneezes seemed more forceful than usual too. He kept trying continue what he was saying through the sneezes, but while they were never very close together, each one built up forever. As we were heading for bed, he asked if he could take the box of tissues with him, so I told him there was a box by the bed already. Once we were away from my parents, he really showed how bad he felt. He blew his nose a few times, and admitted he felt horrible, and wasn’t sure he could manage the 13 hour work day. All I could do was lie next to him and hold him tight. The next day we woke up and headed to where we were working. I had high hopes because he hadn’t sneezed, and he usually did pretty much as soon as he got up. But as we were signing in and picking up our nametags, he got an intense presneeze expression, and turned away to sneeze into the crook of his elbow. I got my nametag, but as he was trying to tell the woman his name, he had to sneeze again, and did so in the same way. He looked so adorable and I felt so bad for him, nose all pink, looking cold and miserable even in his big fluffy sweatshirt. As we headed inside, he pointed out that he had made wet spots on the sleeve of his sweatshirt when he sneezed. He took out some tissues--I had given him a travel pack--and blew his nose. He looked and the pack of tissues worriedly, and said, “This may not be enough.” I didn’t realize then how right he was.

He lasted three hours until his supervisor sent him home. I lost count of how many times he sneezed. What I do remember is how forceful and violent they were, how each one took him over completely and bent him double. He’d just have to stop when he was doing as an incredibly desperate presneeze expression came over his face. He’d fumble for a tissue, hold it in both hands in front of his face and just wait, until with a violent “Huht-CHISHH!!!” it exploded out of him. And as often as not, it brought no relief, because he’d immediately begin building up to the next one. No 20 minutes went by without a sneeze or four from him, and he blew his nose even more often. I went over from time to time to check on him, and noticed with a twist of my stomach that his poor nose was getting chapped and red. I was at war with myself, part of me turned on beyond belief, but the larger part just wanting to take him home, tuck him into bed, climb in with him, and hold him. When he came and told me they were sending him home, I tried desperately to find a reason to go with him. I knew I’d just be thinking about him and worried about him for the rest of the day anyway. But there wasn’t a reason good enough. Once our work day was finally over, I went to his house to try and take care of him. And that’s what I did for the rest of the week: went over there as often as I could, and did my best to take care of him. That night he was still sneezing, not as often, but just as forcefully. He seemed to be frustrated with having to sneeze so much. When he felt one coming, he’d mutter “Damnit,”and if he sneezed more than once or twice in a row, he’d make a frustrated noise after. But even with all of that, he was so good to me, because I know he could have stopped some of those sneezes, by blowing his nose instead of just waiting for the sneeze, or pinching the bridge of his nose. But he didn’t. He sneezed for me. Over the next couple days he got better: though his presneeze expression was still more desperate that usual, and his sneezes more violent, he wasn’t sneezing so often. Thursday we had class together, and he wavered between going and not going. He told me he wasn’t coming so I should get a ride with my dad, but he showed up anyway. I was worried about him, especially when he sneezed twice in a row after less than five minutes in class. But he seemed to be doing much better, and I slept over at his house that night.

That was much longer than I intended, so I think I’ll save the others for another post. But I hope you enjoyed!

hey candy, nice obs. One thing I'd love to know though, is he normally a nose blower or is it only when he's got a cold, and also are they loud blows? I guess some of us are natural foghorns and others aren't. Gotta admit it's tough when your nosse gets chapped from all the blowing though.

keep up the good obs!

Awwww, poor guy! But, it sounds like you took really good care of him. Thanks for all of the lovely description on him and his cold and sneezes! Sounds lovely, even though he was miserable! Thanks for sharing!

He normally blows his nose in the mornings, because he sneezes a lot then. The rest of the day, he mostly sniffles unless it gets very runny. As for the sound, it alternates between gurgling and honking. Not too loud, but you can definitely hear it.

I think he's getting sick again, poor thing...he was sneezing a lot today and it's only 1:00 pm...

awww Candy! Your obs ALWAYS ROCK! Thank you for sharing!

You sound lucky to have such an awesome boyfriend! And he is lucky to have someone who wants to take care of him! I totally get what you mean about the whole being turned on vs. just wanting to take care of the person though....tough spot! Sounds like you managed well.

Hope he feels better soon!

That was such a great obs, thanks for sharing

It sounds like a really miserable cold, but I kind of thought it was 'sweet' when he got that frustrated sneezing so much - OMG I'm so twisted :)

Anyway Thanks again

I think it would be hard and confusing in a situation like this... I would want to take care of my crush if he were sick at the same time as enjoying him sneezing... that is very confusing. you feel so sorry for them, but at the same time you just love it :D
