Lalena
I've been particularly sneezy the past week or so and after reading another thread in general discussion, I have reason to believe I am allergic to my Christmas tree. Anyway, this is not about the tree, this post is to inform everyone that I think I am changing the sound of my sneeze! Not intentionally, but it seems like everytime I sneeze I no longer produce a "Hit-chew" sound, I am now making an "esh-shieeww!" sound.I've had many false starts as well. I feel like for every sneeze, I have two or more flase starts which is very annoying! My noise is in a constant tickling state, which I wouldn't mind if everytime it tickled I sneezed, but I do not. It's been quite some time since I've had a really good self obs to share, so I'm kind of excited about this one!I was sitting on my couch studying for my finals (Christmas tree in the room) and the tickle that has been residing in my nose finally strengthen itself enough to form a sneeze, "Heh esh-shiew!" but the relief did not last long at all. Immediatly after the inital sneeze I felt another one come, "esh-SHIEW!" I sniffed and went back to my papers. The tickle continued, but it had all morning so I did not think much of it. After a minute or so another group of sneezes persisted, "Heh, Heh esh-shiew! Ishoo, Huh, heh heh, HEH ESH-SHIEEWW!!" Now I was kind of excited because it has been a while since I sneezed so much in such a very short amount of time, and it's hard to even remember the last time I sneezed a triple. I put my papers aside and got up to get some tissues. In the middle of walking to the bathroom I had to stop in the hallway and sneeze again, "ISH-SHOO!" I can't even tell you how good it felt to sneeze this much since my nose had been bothering me all morning. I grab some tissues and go back to my study post. After a quick blow (for you blow people out there it was kind of soft, more catching the runny-ness of my nose than clearing it) I had to sneeze again. Are you kidding me? I held the tissue about a foot away from my face and sat with a pre-sneeze expression for what felt like forever, every once and a while giving a quick little intake of breath preparing for the sneeze. Finally, "Heh-ESHIEEEEWWW!!!!" That sneeze was the one that ended my little fit. It was much louder and more forceful than any of my other sneezes. I blew my nose (this time clearing it) and just smiled. It was really hard to finish studying after an episode like that one ... Link to comment

atchoum
Interesting how different causes produce different kinds of sneezes. Allergic sneezes are often more intense than ordinary sneezes, which is probably why yours are going into the high frequencies, though I do know people who have very low key allergy sneezes too...Thanks for the self obs, always good to have! count tiszula
Just a perfect self obs! I love it when people talk about their different sneeze sounds. [and I love it when they have nice big mini fits]. Some people seem to be able to change their sneeze style deliberately within the same group of sneezes. Elegant variation.Well, this would seem the perfect time, while the tree is still around. for an illustrative .wav! Purely in the interest of research. Link to comment

I was tempted to say that you shouldn't change anything about the sound of your sneeze (because it's perfect ) but since you're not doing it on purpose and since it's you, you know I'll love it anyway (plus it's still spelled cute so ^.^ ) Link to comment
