donttakenostuff Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 This is my first major cold of the fall. I've been running myself ragged, working too hard; but I've managed to ward off any colds even though folks are sneezing all around me. But on Friday, I stood outside one of the lecture halls in the rain talking to an undergraduate student. After five minutes, I told him, "I can't stand out in this rain like this." And before I got home, I could feel my throat getting sore. My nose started running while drive home, and I had to search through my purse at the stop light for a kleenex to mop up the mucous and to blow my nose .I whipped by World Market and got some ginger tea, thinking that I'll nip this cold in the bud before it takes over me. Well, I sipped my ginger tea Friday night, and thought that I had won. But I woke up Saturday morning to my right ear ringing and my nose tickling. And my nose tickled so badly that no matter how many times I rubbed it the tickle wouldn't go away. In fact, the rubbing made the tickle worse. But, I couldn't sneeze. So, I got in the car to go to the local coffee shop where I always drink my morning coffee. While en route to the coffee shop, I stopped at a red light and the tickle came back. This time, I found the sun, looked dead into it, and lo and behold, ETCH-CHOO. Uhm, that was a delicious sneeze, and my nose stopped tickling. No sooner than I walked inside the coffee shop, the tickling returned. Now, I don't sneeze too often, but maybe the forum is freeing me up . Anyway, I sat down with my venti mocha, and the damn tickle became more intense. Maybe it was the freshly ground coffee that was bothering me. My nose started running, and I blew it a few times, and tried to talk to a neighbor with a napkin pressed to my nose. Finally, I just couldn't take it any longer. I looked for the light in the coffee shop, and it worked. ACH-CHEW. I was blessed with more relief. And no one even blessed me.Today, the third day of the cold, I've been in the bed, which is why I've been on the forum so much lately. I had to look into the lamp to get rid of another tickle. It worked, I was rewarded with a moderately wet, ARG-CHOO. I wish that I could just sneeze out these tickles without having to look into the light. Oh, well. I suppose I could induce and sneeze until my heart's content .
