Geoff Adams Posted March 2, 2008 Share Posted March 2, 2008 Hi all,When actors and actresses blow their noses in tv episodes, do you think that's what their blows sound like in real life? For example, Judith Light seems to honk pretty much every time a tissue is near her nose, same goes for Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Jane Leeves. Do you think they are honkers in real life as well? Doode23 Posted March 4, 2008 Share Posted March 4, 2008 thx for the clips - the 'hefty flu blow' sounds fake as hell...regarding the judith light blow - it was a file named like 'whos the boss' or something, widely aviable on the yahoo noseblowing groups I think... think it was a live thing, doesn't sound like a regular series. it's only audio, reacknowleding... In some movies I've seen, the nose blowing sounds super fake—kinda like royalty free sound effects. Link to comment
Ali Marie Posted January 16, 2019 Share Posted January 16, 2019 I'm just putting it out there that the honking sound effect can also be achieved by blowing a raspberry through your lips--at least that's what I was taught in acting class quite a few years back. Though I have no proof of how often said effect is utilized, I am certain that I once saw/heard Bruce Campbell achieve an intentionally comedic nose blow that way for an old, short lived show, Jack Of All Trades.
