On the Train (F)

Hi folks,

First obs post. I ride the train to work every day, so I spend a lot of time quietly looking at people. Given the amount of time I spend, I've been incredibly unlucky, and have rarely caught more than the occasional double. Today though, I got on and I was in for a treat. There was a youngish woman, mid 20's, blond, decent looking, who from the first minute just looked sneezy it wasn't so cold out, but her cheeks and nose were red, and she was breathing through her mouth, so her nose was pretty clearly stuffed up. She looked a bit distracted, like her mind was elsewhere. I was immediately interested.

The train was full, so getting a seat was out of the question. She wasn't so lucky either, and she was forced to stand in the aisleway, which was made worse by the fact that she was carrying a huge container of instant coffee in one arm, and holding onto the handrail with the other, so she didn't have so much as a free finger. I was listening to music, earphones in, when I heard a Chhhsh!......Chhhew! I was standing about 4 feet away, so I didn't want to look straight at her and be obvious about it, but from my peripheral vision, I could see her bending over slightly as she sneezed, mostly aiming for her left shoulder.

Now she had my complete attention. I watched her out of the corner of my eye as she continued to sniffle and blink at the ceiling. She even managed to pull out a tissue and start wiping/blowing her nose while she tried to hold on during the bumpy ride. Just as I stopped watching, she took the opportunity to sneeze again, chheww! and then pause, and then sneeze again, aiming once more for her shoulder.

I was at this point worried that someone would notice me, but I put on my best poker face, and stared straight ahead, past her. Another few minutes went by, and I was starting to think that she was all tapped out. Finally, as we made it out of a long tunnel, she closed her eyes, pulled her head back, then rocketed forward letting loose a forceful chhsshhh! toward her left shoulder. As soon as this was out, she reared back and let loose another, more desperate, into her right shoulder. She stopped, her eyes fluttered, then she sneezed once again, straight forward, chhewww!!!!

I watched for the rest of the ride, but no luck. I'm going to be keeping an eye out tomorrow, that's for sure!
