My Cold

Well I'm just getting over a fairly wonderful cold; it was all in my nose, with very few other symptoms. I kept waiting for the fever/cough etc. but they never appeared!

It started last Tuesday and was pretty slow in it's development, it wasn't until Thursday that I sounded like I'd just wandered straight out of a sneeze fic. I was litereally so bunged up people kept asking me to repeat certain words (e.g. I was talking about a girl called Anais and everyone is going "Amais???? What's amais???")

But onto the more interesting stuff. I'm a really shy sneezer, and haven't sneezed in public for about ten years (maybe more ), and usually I have no problem in blocking them. I mean, I don't need to put my hand up to my nose, or pull some funny expression, I can just.... not sneeze. In fact I probably put more effort into coaxing sneezes then blocking them!

Not with this cold though. My nose was clearly oversensitive, because every tickle was unbearable, and I was having to physically stop them by the age-old technique of holding your index finger beneath your nose - and even that was coupled by a totally giveaway expression I'm sure. So by the end of the afternoon I was chatting away to a colleague when it happened again , the conversation naturally ended so I started to walk away, all the while nursing this driving-me-crazy tickle and debating with myself whether to let it come to anything or not.

I mean I'm pretty sure I could have stopped it if I wanted... but it was really intense and ah, who am I kidding, I love sneezing so I didn't want to miss out. So for the first time in years, in a public setting, I surrendered to a sneeze; which basically meant taking in a big lungful of air and standing there, waving my hand in front of my face, like a tacky cartoon. But I couldn't help it!

And then... "ngxtssh!" Yeah, I'm sorry to say I stifled it, but it still made some sound and more of less doubled me over. No one said anything, perhaps no one noticed? But it sure felt good .

My second obs were while I was on here, talking to a friend over MSN. I was typing quite a long sentence when the need to sneeze hit me big time, and it was one of those moments where you try to carry on with what you're doing, but it's completely futile so you end up with "...huh...eh......heh-hihh-nmphx! HUH-TSSHX!"

aw, thanks for that, it was very nice! i love it when you can tell someone is really trying to hold it in but it has to come anyway! lol thanku
