1) How many colds have you caught this year?

Just one, but it was a doozy.

2) How do your colds start? How do you know you're catching a cold?

This itching behind my nose. Sniffling, sneezing my head off for a couple days, then my nose filling up as the cold settles in.

3) Have you ever given someone your cold? How did they catch it from you?

I'm sure I have. You can't exactly control who will or won't catch something from you. As to how, could be anything. Sharing a room at camp, just being in the same house, being at school with people when the colds go around like wildfire. I don't willingly share cup or other things when someone around me is sick, in part because I fear chest colds or worse (asthma).

(I'm baffled when people have answered no to this question.)

4) Have you ever caught a cold from a co-worker, friend, S.O., family member?

Again, goes without saying. I'm sure I have, many times.

5) Do you sneeze uncovered when you have a cold?

If I'm alone, I hardly ever cover my mouth, whether I'm sick or not. Just depends. In public, I always cover my mouth and nose.

6) Do you take medicine when you have a cold?

Depends on how crappy I feel. Usually I do though if there's headache, deep chest congestion (which I hate). If it's just a head cold, I usually don't. I've had so many sinus problems since I was a kid it doesn't bother me all that much.

7) When do you usually catch a cold? What time of the year?

When I was a kid, all the time (daycare/school and whatnot). Now, can be any time of the year.

8) What symptoms do you usually have when you have a cold?

Most of the time, it starts with a day or two of runny, mostly open nose, tons of sneezing, and this itch behind my sinuses that makes me wish I could just scratch it. After that it shifts to much thicker nose congestion, sore throat, sometimes hoarse voice. I almost always have chills or feelings of being unwell that go alongside it.

Sometimes (and these are usually my worst), I get chest congestion.

I wish I got more plain old head colds without the chest junk.

1. How many colds have you caught this year?

One so far this year. Last year I had three bad colds.

2. How do your Colds Start? How do you know you're catching a Cold?

Depends on the cold. Sometimes I get a swollen or sore throat, and other times my colds start with a lot of sneezing.

3. Have you ever give someone your Cold? How did they catch it from You?

I have given colds to my boyfriends over the years..from kissing them.

4. Have you ever caught a Cold from a Co-Worker, Friend, S.O., family member?

Oh, definitely. All of those apply.

5. Do you Sneeze uncovered when you have a Cold?

If I'm completely alone, and I don't make it to the tissues in time, then I'll sneeze uncovered. But most of the time, I cover my sneezes.

6. Do you take medicine when you have a Cold?

Depends again, on the cold. Sometimes I take medicine if I'm feeling really miserable with fever. Other times, I find cold medicine doesn't help that much.

7. When do you usually catch a Cold? What time of the Year?

Winter is most common, but spring and summer have happened as well.

8. What Symptoms do you usually have when you have a Cold?

Sneezing, runny sniffly nose, sore or swollen throat, hoarseness, sometimes a cough, sometimes a fever.

1) How many colds have you caught this year?

None this year. One last year.

2) How do your colds start? How do you know you're catching a cold?

Sore throat every time.

3) Have you ever give someone your cold? How did they catch it from you?

No. I try hard not to spread germs. Ick.

4) Have you ever caught a cold from a co-worker, friend, S.O., family member?

When I still lived with my dad, he used to share his colds all the time, b/c he's gross and refuses to cover his mouth. He also sneezes inside the fridge, which I find so revolting that if I were my mom I'd divorce him just for that.

5) Do you sneeze uncovered when you have a cold?

If I'm alone in my room, possibly, but probably not. It's just instinct to cover up.

6) Do you take medicine when you have a cold?

Sometimes, but I usually just heat up water to soothe my throat.

7) When do you usually catch a cold? What time of the year?

In the winter.

8) What symptoms do you usually have when you have a cold?

First sore throat, then stuffy/runny nose.

1) How many colds have you caught this year?

I'm counting from March last year to March this year, since it's only been three months. I had one in April and one in October. Both of them were mild, and didn't have particularly appealling symptoms. I am disappoint.

2) How do your colds start? How do you know you're catching a cold?

I can usually tell if I have a build-up of mucus in the back of my throat, or a dry spot in the back of my throat. After that, my nose starts to get stuffy, and the full panapoly develops.

3) Have you ever give someone your cold? How did they catch it from you?

I try not to, but of course it's happened before. A member of this forum actually visited me at one point, and she ended up catching the cold I had last October. This came about mostly from breathing the same air and hanging out together for a week. I usually try to avoid people and be neat about it when I'm sick, though--I don't like the guilt associated with making other people sick, and if my family gets sick it kind of disgusts me.

4) Have you ever caught a cold from a co-worker, friend, S.O., family member?

Oh yeah, tons of times. My sister and I are together almost 24/7, so it's virtually garuanteed that if she gets a cold, I'm going to get it. In most cases, she's the one who gets it first. I also distinctly remember going to a friend's house, her failing to tell me she had a massive cold, and me catching it a few days later.

5) Do you sneeze uncovered when you have a cold?

I usually catch it in my hands, my elbow, or a tissue, depending on how much warning I have. Unfortunately, my colds aren't especially sneezy.

6) Do you take medicine when you have a cold?

Recently I have. I took Nyquil once when I had an absurdly stuffy nose the day before I was supposed to spend my birthday singing karaoke with my friends. It was the most intense congestion I'd ever experienced--my whole head felt like it had been filled with cement, and I couldn't successfully blow my nose without causing pain. I didn't want to wreck my birthday, so I took it--and felt 100% fine the next morning. During my last cold I used nasal spray, but I'd rather not do that again, because it eliminated my congestion totally...after that, my symptoms shifted to coughing and losing my voice, which I don't like. For the most part, I just take cough drops and drink a boatload of tea. Also, I put a bag of mint tea in my box of tissues--it makes blowing a lot more soothing!

7) When do you usually catch a cold? What time of the year?

The last two years I've gotten them in April, but in general I think I'm more likely to get them in the winter. This winter was totally cold-free, but for a long time I got one every January.

8) What symptoms do you usually have when you have a cold?

I get a stuffy nose, but it tends to be more congested than particularly mucus-filled. Which is irritating to me. It'd be more satisfying if I could blow out a lot of mucus. I also tend to have coughing and sore throat. Unfortunately, not too much sneezing. D:

1)so far, in the year 2011 (that's four months) i have caught two or three

2)i start getting achy, my nose gets stuffed up, sometimes my stomach hurts, sore throat sometimes too.

3)i have yet to give someone my cold, though i have the PERFECT person in mind...

4)umm...oh, well my last cold i got from my great aunt, if that counts.

5)i hate it when i have a cold, just because my parents always try to take care of me and are all 'oh you're sick' and they don't stop going on about the latter :winkkiss: so i try to hide it as much as possible, stifling when i'm with them, and typically use a tissue when i'm alone.

6)i take one ibprofin when my parents aren't around.

7)i always get sick right when winter is turning into spring.

8)i sneeze a little more than usual, i refuse to move from the motor home i live in, i ache all over, my throat gets raw, and when my mom fights her way through to taking my temperature, i'm usually running a little fever.

1) How many colds have you caught this year?

So far this year, 1. Average is around 2 a year.

2) How do your colds start? How do you know you're catching a cold?

Strangely, I used to always start with a really sore throat. Now, I rarely get a sore throat at all through the whole duration. Instead I get a scratchy cough and that vague, slightly feverish "sick feeling". Once the the runny nose, sneezing, stuffiness starts, I know there's no turning back.

3) Have you ever give someone your cold? How did they catch it from you?

No-one that I know of.

4) Have you ever caught a cold from a co-worker, friend, S.O., family member?

From family members, yes. From co-workers, possibly.

5) Do you sneeze uncovered when you have a cold?

No, never.

6) Do you take medicine when you have a cold?

If I have to go out in public, yes. I hate appearing "sick" in front of other people, and will do whatever I can to be inconspicuous.

7) When do you usually catch a cold? What time of the year?

There is definitely something to be said for the "change of seasons" old wives tale. I always get sick when the weather starts warming up, at the start of spring. The last few years, I have been sick toward the end of August (the end of Australias winter), within the same 2 week period (i know because, as a fetishist, I keep a diary recounting such episodes). I often regularly get sick when the weather starts cooling down, although not as predictably as I do when it starts warming up.

8) What symptoms do you usually have when you have a cold?

Slight dry cough, runny nose, sneezing, blocked nose. Feeling "feverish" (though not actually having a fever), headache, sleepiness, littlet appetite, and slightly achy muscles. I also quite regularly lose my voice.

I'm not telling and I don't know why I'm doing this survey anyway... 8'D Oh, yes I do know, and only one cold (I don't get usually sick at all).

Well... That one started with a sorethroat and I seriously don't remember the other times well enough (been too long since them).

Now this is the reason I started filling this in. 8 D Yes, I guess I have~<33 *wanted to get to say that*

I dunno, I guess I used to cay´tch my colds during the winter time.

8) What symptoms do you usually have when you have a cold?

Hmmn... I don't know. I can't really say, having been sick so rarely after I turned 14.

1) How many colds have you caught this year?

Three or four.

2) How do your colds start? How do you know you're catching a cold?

Typically my throat gets itchy and I start sneezing with a much greater frequency.

3) Have you ever give someone your cold? How did they catch it from you?

Sure. The GF and I share just about every cold that either of us catch (secret: even if one of us has a cold, we still make out ;D)

4) Have you ever caught a cold from a co-worker, friend, S.O., family member?

The last cold I caught was from one of my students. Also, my co-workers and I tend to pass our colds around to each other.

5) Do you sneeze uncovered when you have a cold?

Not if I can help it, seeing as my sneezes are often very productive when I have a cold. I almost always carry both tissues and at least one hankie.

6) Do you take medicine when you have a cold?

Most of the time, just because I couldn't function at work otherwise! Usually I go with something to take care of the sneezing and runny nose, which are my two most common symptoms.

7) When do you usually catch a cold? What time of the year?

Usually mid-Fall or early Spring.

8) What symptoms do you usually have when you have a cold?

The sneezing tends to taper off after a while, but then I usually have a ton of false starts. My nose runs like a tap, and is often bright pink and raw after about the second day of frequent nose-blowing. Other than that, a persistent headache.

1) How many colds have you caught this year?

Three.

2) How do your colds start? How do you know you're catching a cold?

My colds tend to give little warning. Most of the time, I'll have a sore throat or runny nose in the morning, and by the end of the day, I'll have a full blown cold. Sometimes, I'll wake up completely congested and sick, without any warning from the day before.

3) Have you ever give someone your cold? How did they catch it from you?

I've given my boyfriend my cold multiple times. It's pretty obvious how one would catch a cold from their S.O., if you know what I mean.

4) Have you ever caught a cold from a co-worker, friend, S.O., family member?

I remember when I took my psychology class during my freshmen year in college, there was this one girl who extremely susceptible to colds. She caught four colds that semester! Not only was that amazing in itself, the colds were wonderful as well. During one of her colds, I was able to infect myself by stealing one of her tissues from the trash after class. It was a great head cold with none of the less-enjoyable symptoms.

5) Do you sneeze uncovered when you have a cold?

Yes, if I'm alone.

6) Do you take medicine when you have a cold?

None. I like to enjoy my symptoms.

7) When do you usually catch a cold? What time of the year?

I usually catch a cold around October, January, and March.

8) What symptoms do you usually have when you have a cold?

I usually have a very congested nose, I sneeze in doubles instead of singles, and I almost always have a cough.

2) How do your colds start? How do you know you're catching a cold?

5) Do you sneeze uncovered when you have a cold?

If I'm alone, yes.

6) Do you take medicine when you have a cold?

I have thyroid problems so I can't take anything that actually works, but I do take Tylenols and stuff, and there's a few cough syrup I can take if I need to. I try not to take anything, though, I don't like taking medicine if I'm not dying of pain ;P

7) When do you usually catch a cold? What time of the year?

For the past 4 years, the worst colds I got were in the summer. Except the last one, which was in winter.

8) What symptoms do you usually have when you have a cold?

Sore throat, sneezing, runny nose, congestion, sinus pain, chills, fatigue, and eventually cough.
