Drabble Challenge!

Hi there, forumfolk! I’m sure most of you don’t know who I am, but Dove and I have a writing challenge for you. What we have is 100 different writing prompts, and your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write a drabble for each prompt. Not a particularly innovative idea (we totally stole it from Livejournal), but having done it myself with a different set of prompts, I can tell you that it’s a lot of fun. Anyway, if you’re intrigued, read on! There a list of anticipated questions below that should clear up any confusion, and if it doesn’t, feel free to comment and ask! And before that, there’s the actual list of prompts.

Drabble is highly debated word. What do you mean by drabble? What’s the word limit here?

A drabble, by our definition, is between 100 and 500 words. Personally I like to keep it to a strict 100, but that’s just me. 500 is your maximum, though no one is going to rip your throat out if it’s a few words over the count.

Can these drabbles be fanfiction or originals? Can I mix the two? Can I choose more than one fandom? Do crossovers?

Absolutely. Dove and I are going to be writing Death Note fanfiction, but anything goes. Anime, books, TV, movies, RPF, original fiction, crossovers, almost any genre is accepted and encouraged. The only one that isn’t is erotica/porn, but you can find more information about that when you read on. You can choose more than one fandom if you want to, and you can mix fanfiction with originals. The only thing we ask is that you say from the beginning what you plan to do, and if that changes midway through, let us know!

Where should I post these drabbles? How should I format them?

What you should do is make your own thread, and post them there. Mention someplace that it’s part of the challenge. Formatting is really pretty loose, but we want the name of your story, the prompt used, the name of the chapter if applicable, your name, what aspects of the fetish you’re going to incorporate, gender of characters, pairings and characters used, and your fandom(s). If there’s no fandom, say it’s an original. Everything you’d put in a regular story except for the whole prompt thing. Also, you should keep a list somewhere where you cross off which prompt you use—sticking it in the first post of your thread would be good.

How will you keep track of my progress? What will I get if I complete the challenge?

You’ll help us keep track. When you start a challenge, let us know! Link us to your thread(s) by replying to this post, and then let us know when you’ve finished. (Linking us a second time, because we can be a bit scatterbrained.) Your efforts will be rewarded with a pretty banner, and (hopefully) a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Do all of the drabbles have to be fetish-related?

In general, they should be. There are tons of these kinds of challenges all over the Internet (one well-known one is fanfic100, on Livejournal), and you can certainly use another sort of storyline there. But this is one of the few places where you can write endlessly about the fetish and nobody gets bored. Besides, it’s kind of fun to figure out how one combines sneezing with bikes, or calculating. If you want to make these drabbles into a coherent plot, there may be some that are not fetish-related, and that’s fine, but for the most part lets try to stay on topic! (Also, by fetish I mean anything you’re into that’s discussed here, not just sneezing. Just say what you’re going to be using in your intro!)

Is there a rating limit?

Yes, there is. We have to comply with the rules of the board, so nothing 18+ should be posted here. However, we don’t want to limit anyone’s creativity. If you get a great idea that a little (or a lot) on the raunchy side, you should absolutely write it. But you can’t post it here. What you can do, however, is make a separate thread on the adult board. Make a note in your general thread that a particular prompt will be posted there, and give appropriate warnings. If you make a thread on the adult board, please link us to that one as well. If you’re not on the adult board, then sorry, you’re out of luck.

How long do we have to complete this thing?

No time limit! Everyone is a different level of busy, and everyone writes at a different pace regardless of how much spare time they have. You can write ten drabbles a day, or you can write one every three weeks, it’s entirely up to you. You don’t even have to finish it if you don’t feel like it—maybe you’re only inspired by a few of the prompts. That’s okay too. Just have fun.

Do we have to write the prompts in order?

Nope! If you did, we’d probably have listed “The End” as prompt #100 instead of #15. Just write whatever sparks your interest first. As long as you keep track of what you’ve already done, the order doesn’t matter.

Is this challenge sanctioned by the moderators of this forum?

No, not technically. But if we’re not allowed to do this, or if it’s breaking any rules we’re not aware of, they are more than welcome to tell us so, and we’ll be sure to fix it immediately.

@ Shiny Bug -- All I ever write anymore is DN fanfiction. *facepalm* I'm not sure yet which characters I'm going to focus on...all I know for sure is that L, Light, and Mikami will almost inevitably be involved, and probably Mello too. And some minor characters, because I love minor characters. Not sure yet! I do remember you wrote DN fic too, it was one of the first thigns I ever read on this forum.
