1. Unfair

Characters, Dean and Sam

A sneeze broke the silence.

“Dude, cover you’re mouth. You think I want this from you?”

“Refresh my memory, who was laid up for a week with a bastard version of the common cold? Just returning the favor.”

Two minutes later there was another sneeze, this time half covered by a quick elbow.

Fingers snapped and pointed. “Gas station. Pull in there.”

“Why?”

“You don’t want this cold without meds.”

Dean stopped the car, resigned to his fate. He could hunt monsters, kill ghosts, and send demons back, yet he was powerless to stop a cold.

Damn, sometimes life sucked.

2. Cough

Resentful green eyes stare at me. “Two more minutes, Dean. Don’t talk, or I’ll have to start over again.” He gives me the finger instead.

Two minutes later, he‘s free to cough while I look at his temp. “Well?” He finally manages to get out.

“You’re staying home, I’ll write you a note.”

“What, Dear Mr. Winchester, please excuse Mr. Winchester from ghost hunting, he has a cold?”

I shake down the thermometer and stand up. “Yeah, something like that. You can do your make up work while you get better.” I toss a book on the nightstand.

He groans.

3. Three (Seemed like a natural choice) Some Sick!Sam for Bongo

Sam had always sneezed in threes. He’d almost stopped noticing it when he went to college and Dean wasn’t there to tease him or count.

After he’d joined Dean, the teasing started again. The counting sneezes and the telling interviews to hold their blessings, he wasn’t done.

What he hadn’t banked on was the caring after the cold got too bad. He found himself in bed, with almost everything a cold victim could want.

Then came the jabs. A look at Sam’s list, a raised eyebrow. “Dude, seriously? Who uses handkerchiefs anymore?”

And Sam sighed happily. Something would never change.
