cally
I've just finished re-reading the entire VI Warshawski series as I couldn't remember where I left off, so I just started from the beginning. I'm now doing the same with the Tom Thorne series. Yes, I like detective stories (said in an Irene Adler voice). Link to comment
atchoum
The latest American book I'm reading is Hanya Yanagihara's A Little Life. I"d be interested to know if anyone else on the forum has read it - it takes commitment : 720 pages! but I've found it worthwhile, even though it's harrowing most of the time. The author never gives away much about the material aspects of the characters, so we don't even know anyone's hair colour, and naturally sneezing is never mentioned, but I have caught myself wondering how the four main characters do... TheCakeIsAlive
I'm currently reading 'The Truth' by Michael Palin. Fiction-wise. He won me over on the first page by quoting Oscar Wilde. Apart from that, reading up on the Spanish Armada and the Universe. Link to comment
Kaze Wo Hiku
Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. Pretty good so far. Link to comment
Chanel_no5
I just finished "The Martian". I loved it! I may have to watch the movie one day or the other. Today I got King's "End of Watch" in the mail, but I'm not going to start reading that one until I've cleaned my apartment. I need some encouragment or it'll never be done. Link to comment
TouchOfGrey
American Gods by Neil Gaimon. Fantastic read. Link to comment
Bondi
I'm currently not reading anything. I was reading a bunch of Philip K Dick books earlier this year and am not sure why it took me this look to start reading that guy, considering I liked all the movies I've seen that were based on his books, even if they were completely different from his books. Since I'm a huge fan of Bladerunner, I started off with Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, and it is completely different but it's very good on its own, as is A Scanner Darkly. Ubik was hard to get into, but once I figured out what that thing was supposed to be about I enjoyed it as well. I didn't really like Valis or Divine Invasion all that much. The latter was okay in the beginning, but for a 250 page book he tried to do way too much and things got pretty stupid toward the end and it just didn't do it for me. Most of the short stories were good though, and I'd definitely like to read more from this guy. Link to comment
Chanel_no5
I'm currently reading "To Kill a Mockingbird". Since we don't read that one for school here, I'm reading it for the first time, and I am in awe. It's definitely one of the best books I've ever read. Link to comment
bangbang
Right now I'm reading The Robber Bride by Margaret Atwood - she's one of my favourite writers but I've never read this one! It's awesome so far. I forgot how fun reading was! I used to read like, a book every three days but screen time and uni and work has sort of pushed it all away in the past few years. I'm definitely going to get back into it. Last weekend I took my book and went to a massive park and just sat on the grass and read for hours. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Link to comment

gingerdean
My daughter is getting into Harry Potter right now, so I just started reading her "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone". We're on the third chapter so far. I've never read the books before, and I've only seen bits and pieces of the movies. We're reading four or five pages a night, so at this rate it'll be a looooong time before we make it through all of the books. But I promised her I wouldn't read ahead, so I'll just be patient. FadedRose
Flowers for Algernon... (The unabridged novel) It was first published in 1959, and usually if I heard that I would steer clear, but I'm totally hooked now. I love it. FadedRose
For Real by Alison Cherry. It's really unpopular but basically reality television in a book and I'm obsessed. I'm sad I'm half done with it already. Link to comment
Bondi
I am reading the 3rd Harry Potter book. I'm reading that series for the first time and I will say that I am actually enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would. Link to comment
