Nola
I don't think this has been mentioned before, and so sorry if it has been, but in the Scarpetta series, by Patricia Cornwell, the book The Bone Bed has some female sneezing due to allergies. It starts, I believe around page 257 or so (been awhile since I read it), and carries on for a chapter or two. It is a very good series, so it isn't like reading it would be a waste of time. Just saying... Link to comment
count tiszula
Thank you so much, Cakers. What a magnificent oeuvre; and how lovely to discover, albeit tangentially, that it was my suggestion that inspired it.One book I keep thinking of is "Zuleika Dobson", by Max Beerbohm. After ZB throws a bucket of water over him, the Duke catches a cold and sneezes . his presneeze face being closely described. As a hero, he has never been ill before, and assumes he is about to die, and hilarity ensues. Of course he is about to die, but that's all part of the fun really. As to other threads, there are two concerning Catullus and Theocritus, containing an illuminating excursus on Greek sneezewords by Gryffin. There must also be references to the classic sneezescene in Petronius. Link to comment

VoOs
Stephen King wrote a short story called "The Doctor's Case". The basic sneeze plot is that Sherlock Holmes is allergic to, something, and Watson has to solve the case. It's in the book Nightmares and Dreamscapes. Apparently, there is an audio book of this collection and it's read by Tim Curry. I may have to go and buy that audio book now I believe the audio recording you're talking about is on youtube here's the link:www.youtube.com/watch?v=McH7BdbEgbcThe glorious voice of Tim Curry reading The Doctor's Case?I am in Heaven. I've listened to another audio version of this lovely fanfic short story before, but the guy reading that one had an utterly unattractive voice and narration style, so I was really disappointed. Now this, this is more like it... <3Thanks for the link! Link to comment

Hibiscus
The Enders Game does say Ender sneezed when he landed on earth, but it was a extremely small part in the book. Saving Danny- The main character's friend caught the flu and they have a sneezy convo on the phone. When ever there is a the word "sneeze" whether it be past or present tense, it always seems to catch my eye. Like its a moving target and I am a raptor or something, zeroing in on its prey. Does this happen to you? Link to comment

N_splashsneeze
In Repossessed the main character thinks about how nice it must feel to sneeze because he hasn't before, and what it would be like to have a cold. He only sneezes twice though because of dust, and doesn't catch a cold. Link to comment
Naraya
Lynn Kurland has a thing about sneezing I have noticed. In Christmas Cat the story is about a knight in shining armour with a cat allergy but my favourite is 'To kiss in the Shadows' again a knight, suffering from a terrible cold due to sleeping in a draughty barn, meets, woos and falls in love with a shy lady in waiting. (although I have it as a stand alone book, this can often be found in a book compilation called Tapestry) it's good heart warming stuff. Lap it up ladies! Link to comment
AdrianMarx
I remember reading a book a long time ago which I bought at a school fete before I really understood what a sneeze fetish was. I just knew I felt guilty about buying it so I hid it and now I don't know where it is. I think it was called "Pollen" and I remember a girl called Persephone or something like that and, if I remember correctly, it was about the whole world threatened with a pollen which could make people sneeze to death. It had a lot of interesting descriptions of build ups. I must have been about eight when I bought it.I don't know how much that helps you but yes. That was a thing. Link to comment
fufufufu
When I was growing up, there was a book series called "In Grandma's Attic," about this family growing up on a farm. There's a story where the main protagonist girl encounters her older brother in the barn, and finds him sneezing uncontrollably. The brother sort of chokes out that he'd walked through a patch of some plant/weed/flowers and not realized it was the species he was allergic to until it was too late.Later on the girl becomes convinced her brother stole things from her. So she decides to get revenge by stuffing his pillowcase full of the same plant he's allergic to. Naturally, when the older brother goes to bed that night, he has another allergic reaction. He basically sneezes all night, with the protagonist describing how she wakes up repeatedly and can hear her brother sneezing and sneezing.Yeah... I read that chapter a LOT. As an adult I now think such a scenario wouldn't be out of place in our very own forums, lol. Link to comment

RiversD
Don't know if any of you have come across Jenny Nimmo's Children of the Red King series? The first chapter of book 4, The Castle of Mirrors is called "A Fatal Sneeze" and leads up to one of the antagonists failing to suppress sneezes during a magic ritual. As far as I can tell, he's 17. Definitely not younger than that. The relevant part is included in the Google Books Preview here:http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=tcsBAQAAQBAJ&printsec=frontcover&dq=charlie+bone+and+the+castle+of+mirrors&hl=en&sa=X&ei=GvdeU8OFJorX7Abo6YGYBg&ved=0CDEQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=charlie%20bone%20and%20the%20castle%20of%20mirrors&f=falseNeedless to say, it made teenage me a very happy girl... glaciosity
There's a lovely book called The Gamble (Colorado Mountain, #1), although there is no sneezing, the main character gets the flu and talks about her ailments and gets taken care of by a gorgeous man which then proceeds on to the rest of the story (which is actually really good!), It's right at the beginning of the book and there are some lovely care taking parts.
