BananaTree
Sometimes when I see someone gear up for a sneeze (family or non) I tense up and get scared. Sometimes I'm too scared to watch a vid or listen to a wav. I've always been like this. Monstro terrified me as a child, and even though I love him now (I want a Monstro plushie! ) and have embraced the fetish, I still get tense and scared.Anyone else or just me? Link to comment
SapphireSong
Oh my goodness! I was wondering if anyone else went through this!! Lol ^^ I love sneezing (obviously) but sometimes in real life... :S Strangers, especially - in school, if someone sneezes really loudly it just about scares the spit out of me! XP and then I hope that no one saw me jump... X) The only sneezes I really appreciate are those of people I know and tv show characters I like etc. (and fetish fics )haha I was soo scared of Monstro too! X) but now... let's just say I rewatched the movie for pretty much one reason... Link to comment
nolongeractive
My piano teacher used to sneeze so loudly, it sounded like she was screaming. I hated it and it terrified me, plus it was awkward. Still not a big fan of that.. Link to comment
VoOs
Sneezing used to scare me, when I was 5 - 6 years old. Not the real life kind (I can't remember paying that much attention to real life sneezing at that age), but sneezing and illness in movies and cartoons often left me feeling deeply uncomfortable, several times resulting in me running away and hiding from the TV. Once, my dad even had to carry me away from The Sword in the Stone, after the scene with Madam Mim. I think I was actually crying from disgust and embarrassment, and dad just laughed at me and teased me about it. Another memory that stands out is of me watching the episode Heart of Ice from Batman: the animated series and coming to the part where Batman catches a cold. I watched him sneeze once, freaked the h out and immediately turned off the TV, feeling both terrified and strangely disappointed at the same time. Poor, confused, clueless little girl. When I was about 5 there was no way I could handle sneezes on TV or in films and I can remember just leaving the room, and my parents finding it amusing that I was scared! Like VoOs, real life sneezing did not phase me (much ) Link to comment
murphy dee
The only sneezing I remember that outright scared me was in The Neverending Story. I think the kid was trying to climb this mountain or something but it turns out the mountain was a turtle monster, and it kept sneezing the kid away. I'm not entirely sure if that's the scenario. I've only seen the movie when I was probably 5 or 6, and only up until that part. Could never attempt to watch it again after that. The weird, dreamlike memories I have of that scene still creep me out horribly. Link to comment

I remember watching this in English before I could read the Swedish subtitles myself, so I had my dad reading the subs aloud to me. When we got to the Morla part (gigantic turtle monster allergic to youth x___x), I just wanted to sink through the floor and die. Yet another fetish-related childhood trauma... Link to comment

"Av alla fack i ert bälte borde ni verkligen ha ett för näsdukar."Ahem. Funny. We have this episode recorded and I watched it over and over and over again. Anyway. As usual, I can't really recall anything about me being "afraid" of the actual sneezing as much as I've been "afraid" of people being around me whenever sneezing was present in one way or other. But I think it was more that "what if they notice" thing. So I can't remember ever running away from sneezing other than family ones. ; ) I mean, my Dad rather screams than sneezes, and who wouldn't be afraid of someone suddenly screaming at you. I was always looking up sneezes and things in books, but hearing them on tv or anywhere where OTHER PEOPLE COULD ALSO HEAR THEM?!?!?! Link to comment

In the shape of a sniffly cartoon hero....It totally wouldn't happen if somebody else was watching it with me though. I'd claim the remote by force and push the "Mute"-button before one could say..."Tackar." (He did say that, didn't he? Tackar? o.o What are these memories, anyway? Scars on my brain tissue? ) Link to comment

I was always looking up sneezes and things in books, but hearing them on tv or anywhere where OTHER PEOPLE COULD ALSO HEAR THEM?!?!?! Agreed! The was definitely a problem with growing up before everyone had their own laptops... it's not like I could watch something in the privacy of my room with headphones at age 7. Everything was on the TV in the family room, where anyone could see it. So unfair. I can remember watching an episode of some show at the end of which, a character has a long, exaggerated build-up, so I freaked out and changed the channel. My sister was in her room, but I guess I was afraid she'd hear it or come see what I was watching. I kept swtiching the channels back and forth from the sneezy character to something else, and while I got to see the sneeze, I don't know what caused it, so it was a bit disappointing. And actually, there's another way in which sneezes scare me, but it makes way less sense to me than the childhood TV show scenario. It's knowing that someone I like is going to sneeze-- so far it's just been celebrities-- and completely freaking out.Like, when I first found Beatles fics on this forum? It took me a few days to get up the nerve to read them. I was dying to, but every time I opened the page, my heart would pound and I was scared to death. I literally scrolled the fics one line at a time, so I wouldn't see a ton of sneezes coming up. I still feel like I need to mentally prepare myself before reading (or writing!) a sneezy Beatles fic.Aaand Supernatural? There's a thread about Jensen Ackles in the "Sneezing in the Media" section, and it took me forever to actually read it. I'm a big-time weenie. Ali Marie
I'm not sure if it scares me or makes me uneasy. But thats only if I'm around someone who knows about my fetish, otherwise its pure Bliss! My twin Sister for example; will stare me down if we are watching a movie with sneezing in it! My adopted Sister doesn't really seem to care...like...at all!!! My Co-Star & Best Friend is the only one outside of my family that knows. She seems to understand it the best but sometimes she will non-chalantly poke fun at me. Link to comment
BananaTree
My mom just informed me that she's gonna force me to watch Pinocchio on the big screen, surround sound tv downstairs...in front of everyone... Galaxy
I used to be when I was really young...I can't remember it, but there are home movies of me when I was about four years old, and my grandpa thought it was so hilarious that I would scream and hide behind the couch during any of Sneezy's scenes in Snow White. Sawyer
I think, more than anything it just makes me uncomfortable because I'm afraid of behaving awkwardly. I really have no clue how to react when someone I like sneezes or mentions sneezing, etc. So I just kind of freeze and hope that they don't. Although, if I get my wish, I usually end up disappointed and instead wish that they would have sneeze. I always regret not reacting more, because it's unlikely that I'll get figured out.I used to get more anxious and uncomfortable, yeah -- especially if there was a fanfic or episode where my favorite character was sick, it would take me a while to get through reading it because I'd get so excited that I would start to feel uneasy. I think I was actually crying from disgust and embarrassment, and dad just laughed at me and teased me about it. I think you poked an ancient wound right there. As a kid I loved that movie so much that I blocked that memory of Madame Mim as a sneezing dragon . Until I rewatched it recently. My reaction: ...The horror! And I was a big boy by then I can recall another scary childhood moment from one of my favorite games of all time, Banjo-Tooie for the N64, where a sick rhinoceros cook would sneeze on a hamburger, which later would become the dinner of a group of hungry cavemen, or was it for one of the little rhinos of Witchy World?... Never mind.Oh, and the Tyrannos from the show "Dinosaucers" where allergic to some fur-ball things, that scared me too. Edited July 5, 2011 by Buford Link to comment
