SweaterWeather
Okay, to start off with, I officially give up on ever ever taking up running as a proffesional sport or activity. Its just....blehck. Anyway, I went running at school on thursday and tried to keep up with the professionals in the cross country club. I barely made it halfway.... But the really annoying thing is that once I was done, there was a burning sensation in my sinuses and it still has not gone away! It makes me sneeze like crazy and my nose keeps running. I thought maybe it was a cold, but I don't feel sick and it only started after I went running. It's not as prominent as it was on thursday, but there's still a tingling sensation there. So....anyone else ever have this problem? Maybe it's just allergies.... Link to comment
NoV
Could be that you are breathing deeper than normal, or that your blood is pumping at a greater rate. I have heard of several people have reported that activities that make your heart rate increase make them sneeze more regularly. Link to comment
Trillium
Exercise releases histamine, otherwise known as the allergy chemical (although it's actually a neurotransmitter released by the body in functions other than an allergic reaction). If you are an allergic person or sensitive to the effects of histamine, this exercise-induced histamine release will affect you in a way that's much like an allergy attack. Or, if it's allergy season in your part of the country, your reaction could be due to allergies. Either way, histamine is probably the culprit. An antihistamine would help. Link to comment
Sawyer
Yup. Definitely not uncommon, as stated above. My boyfriend gets really sniffly after any sort of exercise. Link to comment
Raining Strawberry
I'm not an expert by any means, but I have another theory. Since you're doing all this heavy breathing, you're probably drying out your upper respitory tract, which could be irritating. Do you run on a dirt track? Unless it's raining, I imagine that lots of dust is going to be kicked up by the athletes. Plus, while you're running you're too busy breathing to sneeze, so that has to wait until you're finished. But yeah, at any rate, antihistamines are probably the way to go. Link to comment
