Solitary Covering

A few years ago, a topic got started questioning if people stifled habitually when they were alone.

Today, I want to ask if anyone covers their sneeze when they are alone. Hand, tissue or hanky?

Is it habitual, protection against the "wet and messy" effect or something more sensual?

I sometimes cover my sneezes when I'm alone, especially if I have a cold and I think it's going to me messy. I also find using a hankie, even when I'm alone, to be a sensual experience, so that's part of my motivation as well.

By the way, Mr. Sneezy, what do you like to do?

I probably cover 99% of the time when I'm alone. If I don't it's because a sneeze caught me off guard & I didn't have time to grab a tissue or hanky.

I cover my sneezes with my sleeve or hand or tissue. Only when i make recordings do i not cover. its impossible ti induce and hold the mic at the same time. :D

When I'm completely alone, I usually still cover. Mostly it's because I tend to spray spit everywhere and I'd rather not get my stuff all wet. Except that I still use my hand, so my hand gets soggy. :blushing: Sometimes if I feel a sneeze coming early enough, I'll be able to find a tissue or a napkin. But that doesn't happen a lot.

Shy guy, I don't cover a great deal at all. When I'm alone, I might experiment with how hard and how many times I can sneeze (up to 6) or use a tissue for the sensuality of catching it in something.

If I have a cold, I generally prefer to sneeze into a tissue due to the "wet and messy" factor, however.

Murphy D....your use of the phrase "spray spit everywhere" would have you the girl after my own heart. Bless. :blushing:

I have a tendency to stifle even when I'm alone. I figure because I'm so used to doing it in public because it's such an automatic response. How frustrating when I want to let it out and accidentally stifle!

Yes, I usually stifle/control it when I'm alone out of habit, but tend to not really care as much, I suppose, since no one is around.

I've taken to covering even when alone, though if covering is inconvenient (when playing the piano or such) and I'm alone, I don't tend to bother. I also tend to bother less when outside. This is something that changes over time for me though.
