Tangerine
So I've been getting requests to use a hanky in a video, but I realized that I really don't know where to buy such a thing. I happened across some at the local W-mart the other day but their main purpose was a bandana, and I just couldn't bring myself to buy if for non head-wearing purposes. And they didn't look very soft anyways. So where else can I find handkerchiefs? I'm not looking for anything fancy but my fetish doesn't extend into blowing so I haven't a clue about these things. Also (and perhaps this is another silly question), if I do end up buying a hanky and using it, how do you wash them? By hand or thrown in with the rest of the wash? Both? It seems troublesome but I do want to try it out. Link to comment
Kleeny
Hi TangerineI don't live in the US but I guess you can find handkerchiefs in stores that cater for more older women, but the best way is ebay, or Amazon. There are plenty on there. In terms of washing them, yes, just put them in the normal wash when you do your smalls/underwear etc. Always wash new handkerchiefs before using them, makes them softer, and iron them, which keeps them nicer, longer.Good luck and let us know how you get on. Vetinari
I'm not in the U.S either but in the UK I've found hankies occasionally in big department stores but also in shops geared towards gifts/tourists. Airports can be good places as well if you have a while to look around but often the ones I've found there are expensive. As for washing them, I remember my mum always used to boil them but I generally just put them in with the washing. Modern biological washing powders should dissolve and remove any organic matter quite well and they come up pretty clean. I've certainly not had any problems though you could use a hotter wash if you were concerned about germs. Edited March 29, 2011 by Vetinari Link to comment
shy guy
If your adventurous, try looking for women's hankies in vintage clothing stores. They often have a good selection of women'a hankies. New women's hankies are hard to find in US stores, but stores that specialize in traditional clothing for older women often have them. Good luck! Link to comment

The Sneezster
I find both men's an ladies' hankies in the dollar stores, three or four for a dollar. Not top quality, but OK. When buying a handkerchief definitely go for 100% cotton. The poly/cotton blends just aren't anywhere near as soft or absorbent.I wash mine with my whites, hot water and bleach. I'm a lazy git, so I usually forgo the ironing. Here's what I do instead: take them fresh from the drier and spray them with orange blossom water (orange blossom water is really used for cooking, and you can find it in the ethnic or fancy food store. I pour mine into a spritzer bottle that I bought at the dollar store), then smooth them out and fold them. They aren't quite as crisp as ironed, but they are smooth and wrinkle free that way.Even if I do iron them, I spray them with the orange blossom water, because I like the way it smells. You can use rose water, I suppose, or your favorite cologne, but I like orange blossom water. Link to comment
OnlyInMyDreams
Not sure if I can ask this here, but, do those of you who use handkerchiefs blow your noses in them, or just use them to wipe your noses? It seems ... rather disgusting to have all the snot and whatever else on them.I guess you'd have to not have a texture problem, or a germ one?Curious and a little squeamish. lol Link to comment
