The Sneezster
Tuesday night at work, I was a one-woman disaster area; if it could be spilled, dropped or knocked over, I managed to do it. I had no idea what curse was hovering over my head, except there was this irritating tickle where my throat meets my chest, and I kept feeling the need to clear my throat and suck on candy. In the morning, I mentioned to the people I work with that I might be coming down with something.I went home, not feeling particularly ill or tired, took care of some errands and housekeeping tasks, then went to sleep. I woke up an hour and a half later (I know! I never get enough sleep!) with my voice almost completely gone. Just like that! And my throat sore and starting a phlegmy kind of cough with plenty of sticky green goo coating my lungs. Ugh.I called work, croaking into the phone that I was sick and wouldn't be in to work, then settled in to spend the day at home sick. I spent all day Wednesday and Thursday coughing, sucking cough drops, drinking tea and soup and feeling cruddy. Sometimes, after a vigorous coughing fit, my nose would run, but really this Loathsome Disease was all in my throat and chest. Then late last night -- around 2:30 in the morning, just after I had yet another cup of hot tea -- a very sudden tickle struck my nose. I dove for the Kleenex, but I didn't have enough warning to nab it or cover before I let out a delicate, misty sneeze. The second one followed, but I had enough time to get the Kleenex in place and catch the sneeze in it. I guess because my voice is so weak, the sneezes sounded particularly soft and delicate and feminine -- definitely two syllables, the second lightly vocalized, like this hih-shiew! I could see and feel the mist of the first one in the air and on my hands. I blew my nose a few times, because those sneezes seemed to bring on some congestion in my nose, and went back to bed, where I sneezed another precipitous double. Again, not enough warning to cover the first one. Just a sudden sharp tickle and then hih-shih!. I'm glad I was facing away from my husband, so that I didn't sneeze all those germs all over him. (I love him, but he is realy not fun at all when he's sick). I spent the rest of the night dozing, blowing my nose and sneezing. The sneezes hurt my throat and chest when they come, but even so, they are delicious. Never wet and gooey, so far just delightfully misty. Now my nose is beoming increasingly congested, so I guess it's an official head-and-chest cold. I haven't had a good cold in ever so long, and I didn't even have to steal this one. I managed to acquire it without even trying. Just by luck. If anyone wants to share it with me, I'm sure I can manage to let free some delicate misty sneezes your way. In fact, I don't think I can manage not to. Chances are, I won't even cover them, because they've been coming up on me with very little warning. So, if you'd like some uncovered, germ-laden, misty sneezes, well, for the time being, I'm your girl! Link to comment

Anonymouse
Misty is perfect! They sound really cute and delicate, at least they're not harsh and painful. I'd say get well soon but I'm not sure you want to so enjoy the cold while you have it. Link to comment
