LetMeBe
SO I HAD A GREAT OBS ThIS WEEKEND!Friday night I spent the night at my friend's (we'll call her Vikki) village and then Saturday morning we came to my village. She had never been to my village before bc I live further away from the capital, etc.... Anyway, I knew that she and I both shared a cat allergy so I kindly reminded her to bring her allergy meds bc she might need them. For those that don't remember, my current roommate has a cat that is SUPPOSED to stay outside but at times it finds its way into the house mysteriously . Anyway, so Vikki finished packing and we arrived at my village later on that afternoon. After dropping our stuff off at my place, we immediately started walking around the village and hung out with some of the children until nightfall. While we were out neither Vikki nor I had any issues with our allergies. Although spring is coming, things aren't really in bloom yet around here. However, about 30 minutes after we returned to my place and started making dinner, Vikki started to get really sniffly. Side Note: Vikki is really thin with mid length blond hair, and brown eyes. She's very "ordinary" looking but she's one of those perky, happy people that smile no matter what. So people naturally gravitate towards her.ANYWAY, Vikki says to me that her throat is getting really ITCHY, so I tell her to take her allergy meds it's probably from the cat. After Vikki took the meds I assumed everything was fine, but once we sat down at the table to eat, a desperate look spread across her face as took her two fingers and started pinching at her nose. I started giggling bc she looked absolutely HILARIOUS trying to fight off her sneeze, and eventually she sneezed three times in succession. "Ishoo! Ishoo! HIH-ISHOO!" Vikki sniffed and looked at me with another pre-sneezy expression. "My throat is still really itchy (insert my name)". A part of me felt bad for her bc CAT ALLERGIES SUCK! But the fetishist in me was soooo excited! During dinner she sneezed, two more times and was sniffling like crazy. After dinner when we watched a movie, things really started to take a turn for the worst. Vikki seemed to alternate between sniffling, sneezing and coughing. I could tell she was growing really uncomfortable, but aside from telling her to take meds there was nothing more that I could do. The funny part of all of this is right before she and I went to bed, Vikki had just finished sneezing another desperate triple when she looks over at me and says:Vikki: I wish you were suffering too!Me: (laughing) I'm getting used to it. I don't sneeze nearly as much as I did when i first got here.Vikki: (blowing her nose and fighting off another sneeze) Just so you know, I'm not going to stifle just because we're trying to sleep. If I'm going to be up sneezing, you are going to have to listen. Me: Goodnight Vik!Honestly, it was only about 30 minutes before Vikki was sleeping. She sneezed maybe five times in that thirty minutes. The next morning she was completely congested and her eyes were really puffy. Her sneezes were much more desperate as she had started gasping in between sneezes. My roommate was a sweetheart and decided to make breakfast for all of us. She was telling some boring story when Vikki gasped and brought her hands up to her pink nose and sneezed five times. "ISHOO! Hih-ISHOO! Iii...hih...ISHOO! ISHOO! (sniffle) Huh-ISHhh!" My roommate and I blessed Vikki and then she continued to tell her story. Vikki sneezed two more times after that and my roommate politely asks "Do you have a cold? i can make you tea if you'd like?"Vikki: NO, I'm allergic to the cat.My roommate: (She looks at me in surprise) So many of you Americans have that problem. Vikki and I look at each other and bite our tongues to keep from laughing. My roommate has only ever met three Americans, that would be myself, Vikki and J. So the comment was just really funny to us. Anyway, Shortly after breakfast Vikki went home still sneezy and all allergic. I forgot to call and check up on her though. BAD FRIEND! Sorry if this was a novel guys! I am way too detailed sometimes! Hope you enjoyed the obs though! I most certainly did, although I did feel really sorry for Vikki bc I've been there oh so many times with my allergies. Link to comment

count tiszula
Wonderful. Is it possible for an obs to be too detailed? That announcement with intent not to stifle is so exciting!I'm afraid I lost track of who is American and who isn't. In fact I wonder if cat allergies are indeed more common in America; now I think of it I don't think I've ever come across anyone in the UK who had more than a very slight tickliness around animals. Vikki and I are both American. We are in the Peace Corps and thus serving over seas for two years, My roommate isn't American but she thinks the majority of Americans are allergic to cats since two out of the three Americans she has met (Me, Vikki, and J) are allergic. Sorry if it was confusing!!!! Link to comment
Honkytonklagoon
So many of you Americans have that problem. That's classic, LetMeBe. Anyway, I think I've said it before -- you write these things so well. Like a good story (and allergy attack) it builds with the right pacing. All the details seemed like they belonged where you put them. So thank you!But I really was surprised that you had no allergic reaction. Link to comment

I think I'm getting used to it. I do still have allergy attacks but they aren't as frequent as they were when I first moved in. Also, I keep myself very, very medicated!!!!!!!!! lol. Link to comment
