Icee
alright, so this is a little thing i wrote on this woman, amanda. a bit of background:amanda's 27, i'm 13... and i have a total flippin' crush on her. it's kinda unfairamanda used to be a ranger at the same park my mom rangers at, now she works at a different park. i cry every night. when she left, realized i had a crush on her, and i wrote, like, five stories like this one. they were fantastic to write. okay, so here's part one (no sneezing, just a cold, and nose-blowing, the sneezing comes later)this happens three years in the future, so i made most of our charectors up...The knock on the door woke me from my ailing slumber, and I staggered weakly from the bed to answer it. It was Amanda. "Hi Atti!" she started to come in, but I held up my hand. "Don't come in." I coughed dryly into my elbow. She waved me off. "I mean it Amanda I'm...I'm sick. I'd hate to give this to you." I cautioned further, wondering how far she would push it. "Judging by how you sound, I'm pretty sure I'm the one who gave it to you." She pointed out. I conceded, considering that she'd had a cold and I’d taken care of her no more than a week ago. Besides, it really sucked being here all alone when I felt so crappy; my parents had gone for two weeks in Delaware. As she came in, Amanda swept my bangs back with the inside of her wrist, and then yanked it away as if my fever had burned her. I let out a tired chuckle. "Poor Atti. Go lie down; I'm scared you're going to pass out." I let her steer me back to the bedroom and tuck me in like I was five instead of sixteen, then she settled down next to me on top of the covers. I cuddled into her arms. "What does it feel like?" She asked quietly. I cleared my dry throat. "Feels like the flu." I told her. Her hand reached up to stroke my forehead. I didn't want her to stop, and she didn't. "I definitely gave this to you." she murmured. "Do you want anything?" "Mm...A story." I whispered. She grinned "Shall I start with once upon a time?" she asked. I laughed, as I did, I became aware of an annoying tickling in the back of my throat that grew with astounding speed. I broke off in a coughing fit that I tried to muffle into the pillow. "Ach." I groaned when I was done, and sniffled. "So one time, at Mueller, I was on patrol with Bill, and we see this dog that's running beside a blue truck. I was driving. So Bill gives me this look, and we went code on them..." once you get Amanda talking about her work, it's easy to keep her going. I drifted back to sleep, wondering how long she would stay. When I woke it was dark and I was alone. I sighed, trying not to feel hostile to Amanda about leaving by myself. I rolled over to my left side and encountered a piece of paper, folded in half. I feel like a criminal leaving you here alone when you're this sick, so I went home to get a set of clothes and a few other things. I'll be back by 9:00’ I smiled. This was new. She'd finally learned how to stop caring about herself and start caring about others. I glanced at the clock. It read 8:57. Any minute now...I looked out the window and gasped. There was about three inches of snow on the ground and more was falling. I got up and wobbled to the bathroom for the Chap Stick. Then I heard a voice call out "Atti?" I pushed through the door and tottered back to the bed. She whirled, and then sighed. "You had me worried. Get my note?" she asked. I nodded, sitting on the end of the bed to prevent myself from fainting. I was really, really dizzy. "How did I not hear the door opening?" I wondered aloud. She smiled. "I was going to make some soup. You want any?" I cleared my throat. "Just a little. thanks." she came and plopped down on the bed next to me "Let’s see about that fever, huh?" her cool hand felt good against my hot skin. I sighed quietly. Her hand came away. "Do you keep a thermometer around?" I shook my head. "How bad?" "Mm...101? Higher? And your cheeks are really, really red." she hopped up and walked out to the kitchen. I reached for a tissue and blew my nose, flopping back down on the bed. Link to comment
