count tiszula
Huzzah! The royal wedding is coming up, and, although there just don't seem to be the huge number of tacky commemorative items that one might hope for, bunting is sprouting, as are telly programmes. And the other day there was one about top royal weddings of the last century. And guess what? At Her Majesty's wedding, HRH Princess Margaret specifically asked that no gardenias be included in the bride's bouquet, as she was allergic to them! She didn't want to spend all her time in the Abbey sneezing! It just sounds like a sneezefic waiting to be written, doesn't it? And one can only hope that Middleton is not quite so in control of her allergies....Personally, I think that there shoud be a royal wedding at least once a year; a law should be introduced forcing the royal family to sacrifice one of their members to the altar of Hymen every spring, on pain of culling. Then we could all have a jolly good holiday and street party. It could be tabled about a decade in advance; someone like the Honourable Albert Windsor would then have enough time to find a suitable victim. We have already missed the occasion on which Lady Frederick Windsor's half-sister, Claudia Winkleman, doubtless succumbed to a sneezing fit even more spectacular than that she produced on the wireless.Must be off now to order my Kate and Wills Pie; essential food for the street party I shall be having alone in my driveway. [Yes, it really exists] Link to comment
Skiffy
Some of my friends are hosting an anti-royal-wedding beach party. If you did fancy leaving your driveway and pie, you could always go to that instead. Link to comment
r
I thing we should insist on the great horse parade before and after the ceremony despite Kate's allergies. Must have tradition you know even if it means several sneezing fits. Link to comment

WTF?I agree, there should be gardenias and horses.... just because! Awww, really? That's not fair at all!! Then again, you filthy commoners have sheep to tend to, wot wot! Since I don't really care for the wedding, and definitely won't be watching it - unless there's one of those freak horse stampedes in the general greater London area, or they show you Richard Cheese playing during the reception! - I don't have anything particularly interesting to say. Still, I may have to have a go at this: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Royal-We...2921694?sk=info Link to comment
zneeze
Maybe now I've found the inspiration to watch the (extensive) wedding coverage here in the States! Link to comment

[Yes, it really exists]At least you're not off to order the 'knit your own Royal Family' kit which I saw advertised the other day... However, a sneezing 'incident' during the royal wedding would be the icing on the holiday cake! Link to comment

And there was a comment about imagining him sneezing on some covert raid... Link to comment

Fancy that happening on your wedding day.Yes, that most certainty would make a very, very interesting sneezefic- one i'd read for sure Link to comment
count tiszula
Actually, the fact that it is the beginning of the hay fever season promises well; there will be huge amounts of posh totty in the Abbey, so potential audio sneezes at crucial points in the service; plus thousands of sneezy persons lining the streets. Indeed, if there is a downpour as is predicted this could bring down loads of pollen and set everyone off. If only the camerapersons had the correct priorities.I hadn't realised how low-key it's going to be; would you believe they're actually going to the Abbey by car! I just hope this is their own choice, and that huge numbers of people aren't disappointed because the procession isn't long enough for them to get a good view. And the fact that it was announced that Cameron was originally not going to wear tails does not bode well. Thank heavens for Beckham and his obsessional dandyism. It;s the Piers Morgan school of royal ceremonial; in ten years' time it will be Range Rovers and Barbour jackets... Link to comment

count tiszula
And yet they're using carriages to get to Buck House. Moreover, it seems that the Abbey is being absolutely stuffed with greenery, including whole trees! Apparently it's fashionable at the moment. Ah well, we shall have to see.Journalists by now must already know what her title will be; has it been leaked yet? I think I'll have a punt on Duchess of Sussex. Link to comment

coffeepot
Did anyone else here watch the wedding? I did, and was extremely pleased to hear a sneeze from someone in the congregation during one of the lulls in the ceremony - if memory serves, it was just before the start of the prayers.(And Kate's title has been revealed as Duchess of Cambridge) Link to comment
