The little orange boxes

Usually when I log in and go to "View New Posts", they all have little orange boxes next to them telling me that something new has been added. But sometimes, there are none anywhere, or every single thread on the forum has one. I can't find a set pattern to when it happens-- sometimes when I've just logged on it'll be like that, or when I've been on for a while and I hit the New Threads link.

I guess it's not a big deal, but I was wondering... is that just an occasional glitch, or something weird that I'm doing?

Hmmm, for me they occasionally randomly park several threads I just read as unread, so I think in both cases it's just a bug in the forum software, but well, I don't know said software very intimately, so well, just a guess. Don't think you're doing anything weird.

Haha yeah, I know that! I love those things. They're just very inconvenient when they decide to mark or unmark everything.

I've been having the same problem with a few different boards lately. My problem is the majority of the time there are new posts and the box isn't popping up. It's a little annoying but it'd be way worse if this was a really really high-traffic board and it did that.

I click on "view new posts" and ignore the orange boxes!

That seems like a good way of not missing anything cos once you've read or skimmed them you can mark them as read

Yeah, it does the same for me, I almost exclusively use "Get new posts" rather than browsing forums. Often once I've looked at them once, if I come back to them a few minutes later, they're all marked as read (which is annoying, can't click the orange box to go to first unread xP), or I'll view a thread/post in a thread and it will tell me after it's still unread. Not too bothersome, but would be nice if it didn't do that xD
