Welcome to my Chuck drabble/short fic thread! Thanks for stopping by:P For those of you who don’t know, Chuck is a wonderful TV show starring the attractive Zachary Levi. This thread will have only male sneezing from various causes. I’ve got a few going already (Chuck vs. The Puppy, Chuck vs. The Man Flu, Chuck vs. Nyquil…) but if you have any suggestions I might be open to them:)

And now, for the first one:

Chuck vs. The Common Cold

Chuck (m), cold

Word count: 415

A/N: This is set back in the day when Chuck still lived with Ellie.

::: ::: :::

Chuck wakes up to a loud knock on his door, and the second his eyes open he knows something is off.

He lies still for a second, groaning when he takes a deep breath and realizes that he can’t really breathe through his nose. He swallows, and something catches in his throat. He inhales quickly, trying to catch his breath, and when he exhales, the breath stutters into a cough.

There’s another knock, the sound of Ellie saying his name, and then his bedroom door is creaking open.

“Chuck, do you want me to save you any breakfa-” Ellie pauses as she pokes her head around the door. “Oh.”

Chuck rolls onto his side and pushes himself up on one elbow, still coughing.

“Chuck, are you sick?”

“No, just something caught in my throat,” he answers weakly, wincing slightly at the sound of his congested voice. Ellie raises an eyebrow as Chuck’s eyelashes flutter; his nose scrunches up and he raises an arm in front of his face.

“Huh-CHCHsh!”

Chuck doesn’t have to look up to know that Ellie’s got her hands on her hips and is frowning at him. He wouldn’t be able to look if he wanted to anyway, since his eyes close again as another sneeze surges forward.

HetchSHUH! HTSHSH!” The third sneeze catches him by surprise, and does nothing to relive the itch in his nose.

“Ah-hah! Sneezing in threes. You are sick.”

Chuck sniffles and grudgingly accepts the box of Kleenex that Ellie holds out to him.

“Don’t ‘ah-hah’ me. I’m fine.”

“Chuck, you should stay home today,” Ellie says, but Chuck is already hurrying around the room, gathering his clothes.

“Uhh-huh-CHUH! Heh-HUSHSH! HPSHshuh!” He sniffles, moans. “Ugh. I’m going to be late for work.”

“Chuck, slow down for a second,” Ellie says. She takes a step further into the room, and Chuck holds out a hand to keep her from coming closer.

HetshSHCH! HTchch-ehh! Huhh…ehh-hehhh…CHUH!”

Chuck sinks miserably down onto his bed, pulling out several Kleenex and blowing his nose. Ellie sits next to him and presses her hand to his forehead.

“No fever, yet.”

“You don’t have to take care of me, Ellie. I’m not a little kid anymore.”

“You’re my little brother, Chuck. Of course I’m going to take care of you.”

Chuck coughs, turning his head to the side and burying his face into the crook of his elbow. When he looks up, he gives a small smile.

“Can you make me chicken noodle soup?”

Chuck vs. Springtime

Chuck (m), allergies

Word count: 254

::: ::: :::

The second Chuck steps out of the Buy More, the tingle in his sinuses intensifies, builds to a sneeze.

KTCHsh!” He clamps one hand over his mouth and nose to stifle it, but there are many more to follow. In the short amount of time it takes him to walk over to Orange Orange, his eyes are watering. He goes inside, sighing in relief at the cool, allergen-free air. He tries to keep his hands away from his face, but as Sarah smiles at him and finishes serving a customer, he rubs his eyes, then his nose. Sarah starts to walk over, and as she approaches her smile turns into a frown.

“Chuck, what’s wrong?” She asks him, getting a good look at him. He’s sure that his eyes and nose are red by now.

“Allergies,” he shrugs, pinching his nose briefly before dropping his hands to his side.

“Do you have any pills you can take?”

“I didn’t take my- HITCHshuh! My allergy meds this- this…hpchCHOO! Ugh. This morning.”

Sarah leads him to a table in the corner and they sit. A lady two table over sneaks glances at them between spoonfuls of Very Berry frozen yogurt.

“Uh-HUHtchsh!”

The itch in Chuck’s nose occupies most of his attention, and he doesn’t notice Sarah’s hand sliding over his at first. He looks up at her, sees her concerned expression, gives her a reassuring smile in return.

The great thing about his job is that no one will care if he’s a few minutes late.

Chuck vs. NyQuil

Chuck (m), cold

Word count: 225

::: ::: :::

“Chuck, go home.”

“Sarah, your hair is so p-prett-ehhh…”

Sarah sighs and slides the box of Kleenex across the table, just in time.

HTchch-ehh! HPSHshuh! Uhh-huh-CHUH!” Chuck groans into the Kleenex and leans forward until his forehead touches the table. “My head feels heavy.” A second later, he’s tipping his head all the way back until he’s staring at the ceiling. “What if the ceiling falls on us?”

“The ceiling isn’t going to- Chuck, you need to be in bed. You’re sick.”

“And stoned on NyQuil,” Casey mutters from the other side of the room. Chuck jumps, startled, like he’s just noticed the former marine.

“Sarah, if I were in bed, then how could I go on our mission?”

“We can do this part without you, Chuck. Let me take you home.”

“I say we just leave him here,” Casey chimes in gruffly. “He’ll find his way out eventually.”

Sarah sends him a glare and gently pulls Chuck out of his chair.

“Don’t wanna,” he whines, attempting and failing to shake her off.

“You’re a liability to us when you’re sick, Chuck,” Sarah says, but Chuck has already stopped his struggles. He looks around the room, blinks, and then he snaps forward with his hands cupped over his face.

“Heh-CHUH! HuptshSHUH! Heh-HTCHSH!” Chuck sniffles, drag a wrist under his nose. “You have pretty hair.”
