Cold

So there's been a cold going around. First C's brother had it (ack), then my mom had it (double ack), then C got it!

The only good part when C's brother was sick was when C told him, "Stop sneezing, you're making my nose itch."

Me in the background:

I felt terrible for him though, because it was the day before his big interview that he started feeling bad. Some of you may recall my post Great Morning recently where I mentioned his allergies acting up before an interview--this was the follow up. Unfortunately I had to go to school that day, but when I came home I pampered him...took him in the hot tub, made him soup and tea, and took him in a nice steamy shower, as well as giving him antihistamine, decongestant, tylenol, and some chinese herbs my mom always recommends. All evening he kept sneezing these big, harsh sneezes, sometimes with some really nice buildups, like "HAAECHHHUH!" in sets of 1 to 4.

The next morning we woke up super early, and I made him tea, and gave him some dayquil. He blew his nose a lot, and there were some scattered sneezes, all uncovered, bending him at the waist. He was worried about looking sick, and I gave him a travel pack of tissues to keep in his pocket, but when he stopped blowing his nose, the appealing pink tinge faded, and his adrenaline kicked in, and he was fine during the interview--turns out it was short anyway, and he got the job ^.^

He recovered quickly after that.

Fast forward a few days...

Last night we went to the midnight showing of Thor 3D. Worth it, I'd say, even if the plot was somewhat predictable, I thoroughly enjoyed it. C and I went in early to save seats, and as we were just sitting there, we found out our party had shrunk by a person or two and decided to move toward the middle. Just as we were sitting back down my nose tickled like crazy, and I sneezed "Huh-CHSHHHuh!" into one hastily raised hand. C blessed me  and I contemplated going to the bathroom to blow my nose, but decided after a few soft sniffles that I was ok.

During the movie, my nose began to tickle again. Not wanting to bother anyone, or draw any attention, I (yes, I did) put my finger under my nose. After a few moments of firm pressing, the tickle faded. It came back after a few short minutes and I slipped my finger under my nose again, pressing hard. The tickle backed off, and I pinched my nose, wiggling it slightly, for good measure, and was able to watch the rest of the movie in peace.

When I got home, it was late but since I'd slept in that day I decided to try to work on some math homework. I struggled with one problem for half an hour before I realized that the headache I'd developed, which I'd taken to be a reaction to wearing the 3D glasses (this often happens to me), had definitely settled in my sinuses, and elected to go to bed. C was too wired to sleep, so I went and crawled into bed, choosing as I do on chilly nights to leave my socks on. It wasn't long before I had to concede defeat and slide from the warmth of my bed to search the bathroom for a decongestant. Turns out sleeping with a block of cement painfully lodged in your sinuses is more difficult than I'd anticipated. We had one left so I took it and fell into a restless sleep.

I woke earlier than I'd hoped I would, after only about 6 hours, but my nose was too runny and clogged (it doesn't seem to realize the contradiction) to let me fall back to sleep. I gave up, came out, and wrote this.

During the typing of this, I have consumed a large bowl of chicken soup, blown my nose at least 10 times, and sneezes once, a harsh "Huh-CHJSHHew!" uncovered all over my keyboard because it caught me by surprise

It will be a few hours before C wakes up, but I'm hoping he will pamper me cause I really feel like crap :\ Not enough sneezes yet to make this fun.

Heheh, thanks. I've always loved the idea of getting a good cold and being taken care of, but with 1 week left of school the timing could be better :\

Update: C woke up, and I ran into his arms and told him I was sick. Not that it was hard to figure out...my voice is starting to get congested. He cuddled me, and brought me medicine and juice to take it with, and now he's making me tea <3

Oh! Can't believe I forgot to mention...I've sneezed 5 times since my first post. Two doubles, sounding like "Huh-CHSHH! Heh-CHISHHEW!" a few minutes apart, and one harsh single, "Huh-IIJSHHH!" that hurt my throat.

Awe, bless you. You have such a sweet boyfriend. I love my husband but it irritates the heck out of me that he's been basically oblivious to me being sick all week.

He is sweet <3 We were watching a movie earlier and I kept having to blow my nose, and I asked him afterward if I was too disruptive, and he said I wasn't, and called me a 'cute sniffly kitty'

And he just brought me hot chocolate

The sneezing has started to pick up a little as I get better. My nose has been tickling for days but mostly I've just had a few random singles. I had a little mini-fit of 3 or 4 sneezes before bed last night, and this morning as I tried to do homework, I had a wonderful double, followed closely by another 4! sneezes. You allergy sufferers are rolling your eyes, but that's a lot for me! And I am enjoying it.
