gottasneeze1
Hi, I just have a question I'm curious about. When you sneeze, how much of the air passes through your nose vs your mouth? I know that when I sneeze, some of the air is definitely coming from my nose, but that most of it comes from my mouth. Do you guys sneeze the same way? Link to comment
March Hare
Good question!I think it's sort of equally distributed with me. I tend to do that "tsch" sound with my teeth together. But when I stifle it gets all collected in my mouth, sort of, and then I blow it out. And that sounds weird, but I think you know what I mean. Link to comment
NoV
I reckon about 80% through the mouth, 20% through the nose - in my experience anyway Link to comment
murphy dee
I think I'm definitely all mouth. Spit flies, it's not pretty. Link to comment
streetclub54
Mostly mouth for me but still some nose Link to comment
gottasneeze1
Thanks for all the good answers. I'd say it's usually about 85% mouth, 15% nose for me. During one of my normal, random sneezes, most of the spray definitely comes from my mouth. But when I sneeze with a runny nose, it tends to get really messy. Link to comment
retrofan191
OK I'm probably just weird but for me, naturally it mostly comes though my mouth, but I specifically sneeze through my nose because it seems to be what nature had in mind when it designed the sneeze Link to comment
sneezybreezy
It varies with me, if I'm in public it is 70% mouth in the first part of the sneeze and 30% nose in the second part. Usually it is about 90/10 mouth to nose everywhere else. Link to comment
Mf1611
i think it just depends on how u sneeze in how much comes out the mouth and how much comes out the nose Link to comment
ccv
All the spray comes from my mouth. Usually nothing comes from my nose. Link to comment
FreeFluShots
I think most of it comes from my mouth, unless I'm inducing, then it seems to be more concentrated through the nose. Link to comment
Sneezologist123
I think it's pretty much all mouth for me. Link to comment
Hiding in the corner
Mostly from mouth with me too.I'm actually little curious of this. I wonder when you sneeze the most air comes from the mouth when it's the nose trying to get rid of the irritant, so why the air comes from the mouth?Sorry if it sounds stupid... Link to comment
Kuchafya613
Pretty much 100% mouth. Link to comment

Sneezing is obviously doing something though, because it gets rid of the tickle in your nose. Link to comment

Sneezologist123
I know the feeling that you're talking about, but I think there has to be more to it than that. Once that numbness from the sneeze wore off, we'd probably have to sneeze again, and we usually don't. Here's something I found that's kind of interesting-http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S030698771200028X Link to comment

Boba
All mouth for me too. Drives me craaaazy, if I ever sneeze and don't stifle, I spit all over myself. UUUGH. Spit is like my least favorite thing ever haha. Most of the time I stifle, though. Then it's like kind of in the back of my throat. I just stop it before it can come out and hold it like in my chest, so it doesn't come through to my nose / mouth / ears / anything. The pressure is just in the very back of my throat and totally silent lol. Link to comment
