Midii
Oh. My. Gosh. Over the last three days at lectures, my friend has been sneezing so much. Think: 'huh...I'm going to sdeeze...huh...CHOO!' all through a lecture. And I'm really desperate to get that cold. Because apart from the congestion, sneezing and mild cough, she doesn't seem to be otherwise unwell. And it is such a sneezy cold I just can't resist!I've tried standing right next to her when she sneezes, she's sneezed onto my notes and I've breathed into that, I've given her hugs, she's sprayed me with delightfully misty sneezes. But I STILL haven't got that cold, and it's been three days! Anyone got any good ideas? How can I get that cold...? heh. I know I'm weird. But help, please. Link to comment
Maxx
If spending a lot of time with this girl doesnt work, maybe you should weaken youre immune system. I dont know how close you two are, but you could invite her over to spend the night. Go outside for a while etc. Easiest thing might be just going out with her.So if this works are you gonna post any of these obs? It sounds amazing! Goodluck with catching her cold! Link to comment
murphy dee
I agree, weaken your immune system. I always seem to end up getting a cold when I stay up all night. Link to comment
Vetinari
Well I shall refer you to my own, and others' replies in this topic. In addition The Sneezster caught herself one and I seem to remember it took 5 days for the symptoms to begin so there's still time. Her description is here. Good luck. Link to comment

Midii
Thanks for the replies . Today I've decided to take a leaf out of The Sneezster's book and I've taken one of my friend's snot-ridden tissues (which wasn't hard at all since they were everywhere) and rubbed them into my nose. Gross, but I hope it will be effective. Wish me luck!So if this works are you gonna post any of these obs? It sounds amazing! Goodluck with catching her cold!Yes if I ever catch that cold! Pilgrim
Supposedly, supposedly now, you stop being contagious right around the same time you start showing symptoms. However, my friend who recites this statistic whenever he gets sick has reliably infected a good portion of all my friends every single freaking time. So I'm guessing if you're trying to get someone else's cold you're rolling a roulette wheel at best. That being said, the last time someone made this topic that I remember, they had success by taking their sick friends' used tissues and sticking them up her nose (and then washing her hands so that she didn't accidentally introduce germs to any other part of her). Maybe try that? Good luck, lol. Link to comment
Vetinari
Supposedly, supposedly now, you stop being contagious right around the same time you start showing symptoms. This is a fallacy. You are thought to be at your most contagious during the first few days of coryza, when the nasal discharge is clear and liquid and your nose is most irritated. Link to comment
Midii
Quick update: I've been quite busy and not getting much sleep etc., but I have a habit of eating lots of fruit and veg so I guess that reduces the chance of my catching the cold! Asked my sick fried to stay over and she's here right now so I'd better close this. No signs of sickness so far. Link to comment
Maxx
She is still sick? Thats kind of rare.Goodluck and have fun spending time with youre friend. Maybe you will even get some new obs =) Link to comment
Midii
She is still sick? Thats kind of rare.Hehe yes, apparently they can last up to 2 weeks .On the cold-catching, I woke up with a bit of a sore throat but I'm not sure if it's just because I haven't been drinking enough water. Link to comment
Maxx
Sounds very promising to me:)Just curious, why exactly do you want to have a cold? Link to comment
Vetinari
Just curious, why exactly do you want to have a cold?I know it isn't me you're asking but as I love having colds and have actively tried to catch them in the past, I think I can answer. I love the way it makes my nose feel continually tickly. I love being able to make myself sneeze with very little effort. I love the way it makes my voice sound all congested. And one of these days, if I ever get lucky again, I love the idea of phoning my fetishy friend and sneezing madly down the phone at him. Oh, just the thought of that is making me Link to comment

I woke up this morning with a very sore throat and a slightly runny nose which is continuously leaking watery stuff. Midii
Started work (part-time job) yesterday with a small bag of cough drops and a travel pack of tissues and ended with a full-blown head cold. Today, my nose is cherry-red and very sore, and I have almost completely lost my voice, the most I can do is a very weak croak. So congested it seems like I'm trying to breathe through two bricks lodged up my nose, and although I haven't had any sneezes yet my nose is very dribbly with an excessive amount of yellow stuff pouring out. I smell of Vick's and I almost have a fever (99.5). Needing lots of tissues to mop up my poor runny nose. Oh, and my friend still doesn't seem better. Why can't I get her sneezes?! Link to comment
blush
Not that it's any encouragement, but in my experience getting the same cold usually doesn't mean getting the same symptoms. I gave a cold to my boyfriend, and while mine involved sneezing 80 times in one day (what a day) his was mostly coughing for most of the time. I think people's immune systems react individually to the virus and show personal symptoms. After all, what we see of a cold is mostly our body overreacting to the germ, not the actual germ forcing us to have our symptoms. That's why they say the stronger your immune system, the more you actually show illness, and a weak immune system just wouldn't react or fight much at all. Anyway, digressing. I hope it turns out how you want it to! Link to comment
Vetinari
The sneezing might come on with time anyway. Some colds definitely seem sneezier than others (i've had various sorts so it can't purely be down to individual reactions) but I don't know what dictates how they turn out, probably a combination of the individual virus and your own immune system and how the two react together. Congratulations anyway on joining the evil cold-stealing club! Link to comment
doggo
I'm sorry you're not getting the sneezes you're after, but uhmm, this is still really hot Link to comment
Jorm
There should be specifically sneezy cold germs, damn it! My cold usually follow a very predictable pattern and one that sadly does involve a whole lot of sneezing. So I've never been particularly tempted to try to catch one intentionally. If you're still early on in your cold though there's time for it to become sneezy yet! I hope it does and that in the mean time it doesn't leave you feeling too miserable Link to comment
Midii
I had a dry, tickly cough that kept me awake all night and then morphed into a nasty, phlegmy cough in the morning. My eyes are rimmed with red and my upper lip is crimson and chapped from the frequent nose-wiping. The snot-dripping is getting worse now and I'm so congested I can't blow my nose, and when I try, I end up making a disgusting slurping sound and then having the mucus go back down my throat, which results in a bad coughing fit.I'm feeling like somebody is tickling the insides of my nose with a feather this moment, which hopefully will turn into some actual sneezes. Since my nose is so clogged with this mucus I can't induce properly. Link to comment
Prodigy
Oh, I have a feeling that the tickly feeling means that the sneezy phase is on its way... Do keep us updated! Link to comment
Midii
My first sneeze just now! I was having some chicken soup when my nose started tickling more, so I put down my spoon, leaned to the side and tried sneezing...heh...heh... but it sadly wouldn't come out. So I kept on drinking, then suddenly sneezed a very breathy and soft heh-ishoo! Quite unusual, as my normal sneezes are normally rather harsh. It was also VERY messy and I found out that catching it with one Kleenex isn't enough. I need two or a handkerchief to contain the mucus.Glad that it had cleared the congestion a little, I blew my nose gently on a hanky--big mistake. So much snot came out the hankerchief wasn't able to hold it all and it dribbled down all over my hands, then dripped onto my jeans. Ick. The blow was rather wet and gurgly and everything was forced out of my nose like a waterfall.Since then, I have been sneezing continuous strings of heh-choo! heh-ishoo! heh...hehh-NXXT! hah-chuuhehnggxxxtts. It's nice to get some sneezes out of this but a smaller amount of snot would be appreciated. Still great, though. Link to comment
