Sneezing and hurting yourself?

As much as I enjoy sneezing and such, when it applies to injuring oneself in the process of the actual sneeze, it really disturbs me. For example, sometimes you hear people say:

"I pulled a muscle sneezing"

or

"I sneezed so hard I got a nosebleed"

Things along those lines. Maybe it's just a personal thing, but I feel an extreme sense of discomfort when I hear things like that. It works against the fetish for me and makes me feel bad for some reason.

Can anyone else relate?

Oh, absolutely. I have a friend with back problems, and once when she sneezed, a disc slipped in her back, causing so much pain she had to be rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. I would never want anyone to get hurt while sneezing, that's not sexy, that's just awful and horrible.

It's just something to think about. Nosebleeds are the worst with me, considering I'm deathly afraid of them. Sneezing + nosebleed = TERRIFYING. I don't want to think that a sneeze can trigger something unpleasant.

I totally agree. It sucks to get hurt because of a sneeze. Like me pulling my neck muscles so that it hurt to look downwards. On the day of my 2 hour 30 minutes exam.

I'm kind of conflicted about the nosebleed thing though. Whereas blood usually makes me faint and I don't want anyone to be hurt, I think nosebleeds are one of the sexiest things ever.

I relate. We like to think of this as a victimless fetish, so a lot of the pleasure goes out of it for us when a person is suffering (and isn't enjoying the suffering).

Hm. This is not true for me. If a person "enjoys" their suffering, all the sexual enjoyment is gone for me. I don't find pleasure in people feeling pain (not in real life at least; in fiction I might sometimes enjoy that too, depending on the character and situation) and I would certainly not enjoy it if a person actually injured themselves due to sneezing. But I still very much like the suffering part. My fetish has always been sadistic in that aspect. Discomfort, frustration, embarrassment, desperation - all these emotions are incredibly sexy to me when associated with sneezing.

I have a friend who gets nosebleeds all the time, and I've seen him get them from sneezing. In that particular case I never paid much attention to it because it was a constant thing, and blood has never bothered me at all, and the nosebleeds never cause him pain. That's an excellent point you're making. It makes all the difference whether it's IRL or fic. If a fic is really nice and angsty and emo and all that, it can actually work quite well if sneezes increase the misery.
