I was at my friend's house for her "step son's" birthday party tonight. After dinner, presents and cake the kids were playing with the new toys and the adults decided to play Taboo. For those of you that are not familiar, Taboo is a game where there is one clue giver and the rest of the team needs to guess the word on the card. The hard part is, there are key words that you can not say. For example, If the word was "orange" key words might include: color, fruit, florida, OJ and citrus. Basically, the key words are all the words you want so badly to say. You go through as many cards as you can before the timer runs out.

I was very nervous when my turn came up because I am not very quick minded under pressure like that. Unbeleivably, the first word I got was "sneeze." I just looked at it and was like, you have got to be freakin kidding me. I do not remember all the key words, but I do remember "nose" was on there. At first I wanted to say, "The Forum!" but that would obviously been a huge mistake. Instead I said, "When you have an irritation in your shnaz (sp?) you do this." People started guessing ... "Blow your nose!" "Runny Nose!" "Sick!" "Dust" OMG I wanted to die. I replied with, "No ... it's an involuntary action ..." *silence* COME ON PEOPLE!!!! DON'T MAKE ME CONTINUE!!!! I'm thinking. I go on ... "It is done with great force." Finally, someone says, "Sneeze?" "YES! Good, ok ... moving on ..." And I moved on the the next card.

What are the chances? I am still flustered hours later ...

Oh jeez xD I hate when sneezing comes into every day stuff like that.

....*runs to her Taboo game and looks for the card with 'sneeze' on it and promptly rips it to shreads*

Hoo boy :laugh: "Awwk-warrrd!" as Funnybot would say. ( ^_^ ) Anyway, you did that quite well, I must say :lol: I don't know if I would have been able to come up with 'schnozz' (LOVE that word!) as a substitute for 'nose'. Kudos for your wits!

(Also I cnat tyep. I totally wrote 'Funnyboy' there three times. And 'love' instead of 'nose' because I had a song in my head. This in the category of totally irrelevant asides.)

Eeek! I would've shit myself if I was in your position, Lalena. As far as I'm concerned, that word IS taboo! It's always been awkward for me to say it. I suppose it's lucky that with that game, you have to get someone else to say it. Yuck to the entire scenario!

That's absolutely horrendous Lalena, I really feel for you!

The only way it could have been any worse would be if it was a mime game - I'd just refuse to play I think!

I once played this game (can't remember what it was called) where you had to either mime or draw (based on the roll of a dice) a word for people to guess. Well my word was hayfever and thank god I rolled 'draw' (which was embarassing enough) because I don't know how I would have mimed it!

Seriously, that's too weird Lalana. I would have been freaked out as well......to say the least.

EXACTLY what I was thinking :) And, this really puts it in perspective for us how much the non-fetishist actually thinks about or pays attention to anything involving snnezing....i mean, those seemed like great, obvious clues!!!!

Oh my! A similar thing happened to me recently. I was playing Dirty Minds with my family, which is embarrassing and awkward enough (but oh, so fun no matter who its with) and the first word of the WHOLE game, which I was lucky enough to get to read, was Sneeze. I instantly laughed at the coincidence.

You say 1 suggesting clue on the card at a time for an innocent word on the same card. The other player's get to guess. there are 5 clues per card. It's sort of like What's Yours Like, but without thinking up your own clue. I think thats both an advantage and disadvantage
