Getting a cold?

So, I just moved to a different state last week, so my life has been very crazy these days. On top of it, I've been getting huge contracts for my translation business, so I've been quite stressed out and I've had very little sleep, trying to unpack, get everything organize and work all at the same time. GAH!

So I guess it was bound to happen. Yesterday, I was sneezing more than usual, and they were a lot more forceful. I can usually "shape" my sneeze into what I would describe as feminine and low key, but those sneezes were powerful and I could not control them at all. While I was unpacking, I sneezed a triple (I think I've sneezed 2 triples in my life, so that's very unusual for me) that sounded like "AT-SHEW... AT-SHEW... ATSHH". My husband of course yelled "BLESS YOU!" from the other room, with a hint of surprise in his intonation

I didn't think too much of it, but this morning, I woke up feeling out of it. My eyes are kind of glazed over. We had a brunch at some of my husband's friends, so I tried to tough it up and act normal, but when I was there, I felt chills the entire time, even though it's quite warm outside. All I wanted was to go back to bed with a cup of tea and watch a mindless movie. But I gotta finish my work.

Now my nose is a bit stuffed, and I'm sniffling a lot. And sneezing, of course. I'm not sure if it's really a cold since I don't have a sore throat and I didn't get that weird, warm and annoying feeling I usually get on the roof of my mouth (does anyone know what I'm talking about?). Maybe I have allergies to something in this state, and I'm just tried from those crazy weeks.

I guess we'll see what happens!

Thank you Nicole! Glad you liked it, haha!

Turns out this is definitely a cold, although mild for now. I have an annoying headache, and I'm still overcome by powerful sneezes every hour or so. They burn inside of my nose, and it takes them sooo long to come out! I just kind of stand there, staring off into space, feeling the burn take over the inside of my nose veeery slowly, and FINALLY, I get the relief of a single "ATSHEW!". No more triples, though. I'm really trying to contain them, but it just ends up worsening my headache and adding even more pressure in my sinuses, so I guess it's not such a good idea :)

Although, I have to admit, if this cold only stays in my nose and doesn't go to my throat or make me cough, I won't mind too much. The only part that I really hate about colds is the endless coughing, yuck. I would even take a fever over coughing! :)

Thank you guys!

I actually have a funny obs from today :) We have been having problems with our cold tap water in our new apartment, so the maintenance guy was supposed to come here in the morning to take a look. Since I feel under the weather, I look like poop and I didn't want him to see me. I went to the office room and closed the door to work (and hide) before he came.

While he was here, I felt the urge to sneeze, so I tried to stifle it to make sure he couldn't hear me. But I kind of failed, so it ended up sounding like "ATMPHHH", with a very breathy ending. And then I heard him say through the door:

- Do you have a dog or something? You can let him out if you want.

Then I heard my husband answer, puzzled:

- Huuh no, why?

- Oh, I thought I heard a dog sniffling in your bedroom.

- OH! No, that's my wife, she's working on her computer in there.

- Aaah I see! I thought it was a dog sniffing at the bottom of the door, you know how they sometimes do that?

I was mortified that he heard me, and now knew I was hiding in there, but at the same time, I thought it was pretty funny he thought I was a dog

Really great obs, bless you! Your sneezes sound absolutely gorgeous, hope you're not suffering too much

Also I know exactly what you mean about the roof-of-the-mouth thing, it's normally what lets me know I'm getting a cold and not just sniffling/sneezing randomly (although I do sometimes get it as part of an allergic reaction). I wonder what causes it?

Yes!! I get the roof of the mouth thing and usually my lips are dry and cracked! I had never heard of anyone else getting that either and now there are 2 people who understand! Wooohoo! That makes me super happy that others know what I am talking about! I hope you are feeling better soon!!

Oh my god I'm so happy you two understand what I mean! Everytime I try to explain it, I just get this look : :)

I really don't know what causes it though. Maybe it's just that this area gets swollen because the virus is attacking it? I hate it when it gets bad. Sometimes it makes the little dangly thing in the back of my throat feel swollen too, and that makes me nauseated. Do you guys get that too? Blech!

I'm feeling much better now! It was a weird, super quick and very mild cold. Never had one like that before, and I can't say I totally disliked it B) Usually, I get one cold a year and it's really bad, and it lasts for 2 weeks. This one was about 3-4 days with sneezing, some congestion and runny nose and feeling run down, but nothing else. Not bad at all

ZOMG this must have been humiliating and yet it's also hilarious. Thanks for sharing that.

And ... well it sounds like a pretty good cold, as these things go. Glad you're feeling better.
