allergyboy2001
I think we've discussed this before but I'm reviving the topic, since we have new members. If you carry a handkerchief and are out and about (work, school, etc.), where do you keep it? For example, front pocket, back pocket, bag. Or maybe you have some in a desk drawer at work, or in the car, or...? Link to comment

Kleeny
I carry two handkerchiefs. One is in my right hand trousers pocket, folded, for cleaning my glasses. The main handkerchief used for my nose, is unfolded my left hand trouser pocket. Link to comment
allergyboy2001
When younger used to keep it in front right pocket but didn't like the bulge it sometimes created, plus back pocket storage felt more cool!Interesting. Cool because of influence of peers? When I was growing up there were also regional differences in the U.S. Almost everyone in the Midwest seemed to keep his handkerchief in one of his back pockets. But for some reason a lot of people from the Northeast would keep them in their front right pockets.I'm not sure these regional differences are still so pronounced, now that handkerchief use is less common. Fewer peer influences, and also at least some people are "rediscovering" handkerchief use rather than learning it in childhood and so the location where they carry it is less predictable. Though I think if these re-discoverers are American "hipsters," they prefer the back pockets? *Must plan a trip to the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn to do research* Link to comment

Recently I have been thinking about swapping the two, as I have become conscious of handing over germ infected coins to cashiers, but having my keys in that pocket feels uncomfortable, I can't explain why. Kleeny
Ths post got me to thinking, and I posted my last reply, I have swapped hankies. My glasses hankie is now in my left pocket, with my coins, and my nose hankie is in the right hand pocket, with my keys. I am getting used to it. I still have to remember which pocket my nose hankie is in, for a quick sneeze, but so far it feels better and I feel better for not handing over snotty coins. Link to comment
shy guy
*Must plan a trip to the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn to do research*Count me in on that trip!As for me, I carry one hankie in my right rear pocket, and one in my left rear pocket. Part of the reason for this is I've always preferred keeping my wallet in my front pocket, and I've become so used to reaching for my rear pocketed hankie when I'm about to sneeze, I don't suppose I would ever change this. I always use the right sided hankie first, and if I need to use the spare (I have a cold right now so I've been needing to do this), I switch pockets so that the clean hankie is in the right pocket. I normally keep my hanky (unfolded) in my right front trouser pocket with my loose change and keys but l agree with your comment about germs. I keep my spare folded hanky in my rear trouser pocket and my wallet in my front left pocket. I might swap them around and move my loose change.Have you managed to get used to it quickly when getting your hanky out quickly? Link to comment
Kleeny
Hey Kenny, yeah, I've gotten used to it quite quickly. It's working out better actually,I am sure you will get used to it quickly too. Link to comment

4000tacobells
Mine is always in the left cup of my bra. I tend to wear skirts and dresses so I don't normally have pockets, and when I do they're usually too small (the pockets, I mean) so the handkerchief is at risk of poking out or being a visible lump in my pocket no matter how well I fold it.Sometimes after I've used it if it's very snotty I'll relocate it to my bag. Guest
Umm a very good place to keep one taco ... mine is usually in my rioght hand trosuer pocket and another in my right hand jacket pocket if I am wearing one. I suppose you use those small ladies hankies or do you sometimes use larger mens ones (neevr really worked out why they have to be different ??) Link to comment
