Prongs
This is quite possibly the scariest thing that's ever happened to me...my heart is still going so fast...30 minutes ago, I was at my grandmother's house for her birthday, and my eight year old brother and I were sitting on the couch in the living room waiting to eat. Suddenly, I had a sudden burst of inspiration. Even though I hope to be an author someday, inspiration doesn't come often. So I took advantage of the opportunity and grabbed my notebook out of my purse and continued the sneezefic I started a couple days ago. When grandma called us in for dinner, I closed the notebook and hid it under a cushion on the couch. When we finished eating, I got distracted by the television and started watching it. Then I realized my brother wasn't beside me anymore. I quickly got up and went into the living room and found him reading my notebook!!!!!!I walked up to him and he gave me a look of half disgust, half disbelief. I gave him a death glare and said, "You are a horrible person." I could tell he was about to question me about the notebook, so I said guess what...and then I told him I had three video games I didn't want and that he could have them when we got home. That seemed to distract him.He kept looking at me funny though, so I kept distracting him. I questioned him about school, the book he was reading, and what he was going to be for Halloween. He probably thinks I'm a freak! I'm so terrified he'll tell...I dont know...my mom or someone! As if this wasn't bad enough, right before we were about to leave, my grandma asked, "So, what are you writing these days?" and before I could make up something else, little brother answers for me, "Wellllll, right now, she's writing one about...-""Shhh!!!!" I cut him off not a second too soon. I then started talking about Harry Potter fanfiction in my notebooks at home. Then I distracted little brother with some candy I found in my bag so he wouldnt say anything else.I'm home now, and I gave him the video games...I really hope he's forgotten by now.My hands are shaking so bad, and my heart...I'm just glad I could make stuff up that fast in a situation like that. Anonymouse
Oh my... When you said brother I imagined an older brother, but this is even worse! Kids are pretty much incapable of keeping quiet, even if you do bribe them. Hopefully he'll just forget about it. I'm so nervous for you ugh. Link to comment

Vetinari
hopefully his 8 year old mind won't fully process the significanceIit seems quite likely to me that he would not have fully realised the significance. He might have wondered from your reactions what was going on though. If the notebook is somewhere safe, then if he does say something you can probably laugh it off. When my seven year old tells me about things his older siblings have done, sometimes they seem odd or unrealistic and I sometimes conclude that perhaps he hasn't fully understood what he has seen. If your parents are the same then although it might seem obvious to you because it's a matter of great sensitivity, it seems likely if you keep your cool that you can probably just pass it off.
