Uncomfortable Nightmare

Ughhhhh, I don't know why this happened, but I've been feeling weird ever since I woke up.

Basically, in my dream, for whatever reason it came up, I confessed my fetish to my sister. After which it was so. SO. Awkward and horrible ewww.

And then she made me tell my dad, at which point I was crying, and I managed to say something about having a fetish. Then he just kept saying "what type of fetish?" with a really disappointed look on his face, and I was just crying and saying sorry over and over.

When I woke up, I had a mini panic that the dream had actually been real, and it took me about 5 minutes to calm down.

I'm just really weirded out. If dreams are related to the subconcious, or whatever, does this mean I secretly really want to tell them? Or is this just my fear about being discovered coming back to haunt me? NEVER would I consider telling my family, I mean...I'm just really confused and grossed out.

This ever happen to anyone else??

I'm sorry if this sounds mean, but this made me genuinely Laugh Out Loud...particularly the idea of your father confusedly grilling you on the "type" of fetish, and the description of a "disappointed" look on his face. I guess because it seems like the sort of conversations families are known to have often to discuss serious matters considered to be of everyones business like, say, deciding to drop out of school, or crashing your parents car...the very last kind of place most of us would ever choose to discuss our sneezing fetishes in.

I once had a dream that my mum found out about my fetish. I don't remember much about it, just that something sneeze related came up, I tried ignore it and downplay any interest, and my mum suddenly piped up with something like "Look, I know you have a fetish, just admit it". I tried to act confused but could see she wasn't buying it...I was so relieved when I woke up.

I'm sorry you had that terrible dream. Nightmares involving the fetish are the worst.

Whatever it may mean subconsciously, you still have control over what you do while you're awake. So don't worry about whether you secretly want to tell them or not. If the idea makes you sick, don't feel obligated to say anything to them. There's no reason they should know something so private to you. The dream was probably a manifestation of your anxiety about getting found out. I have some like that too sometimes, not where I tell anyone, but I'll have dreams that I'm listening to wavs and someone walks in and asks me what I'm doing or that I leave the forum up on my mom's computer or something. *shudder*

I know nightmares can shake you up pretty badly, but I hope after a couple of days you'll feel better and forget all about it.

I absolutely hate vivid nightmares so I can understand why you are upset. Just keep in mind that as horrible as it was you will start to feel better about it soon, and your secret is still safe as long as you want it to be. There's no shame in keeping something so personal a secret from your family. I'm really close to my parents but I've never told them and never will

Sounds like hell. You poor thing. Do you honestly think if you told that would happen or is it just a worst case senerio kind of thought. I told my sister and she was fine about it.

Thanks all for the support, guys! It really helped me to read the responses, honestly. I feel equally sympathetic towards anyone else who's had similiar nightmares before.

And yes, I understand that they needn't know something so secretive about me. The dream was also weird because I know for a fact that my dad wants to stay as far as way from my sex life as possible.
