Lalena
I've wanted to get my nose pierced for years now and have finally decided I am going to do it next Friday. It is a for sure thing. I'm very excited.I would like to hear your thoughts on which nostril I should get it in. I really want it in my right, but my right nostril is my best inducing nostril. I'm thinking this can go either way ... Either the piercing will enhance sensitivity and inducing will be easier, or it will be irritated and mess everything up. Anyone have her nose pierced? What do you guys think?Edited to add: Isn't it funny that this is what I think about? I was talking to the people at the piercing place today and was asking questions like "How badly does it hurt?" and "How long do I have to leave the original stud in?" I was trying to build up the courage to ask a question about how it would effect sneezing because I really do want to know, but I lost nerve. Link to comment
Salamander
Had mine pierced for about fours years (took it out then i got a labret peircing and glasses because it was too much face-furniture for one face) but I'm afraid I noticed no difference in sneezing whatsoever. Link to comment
Dawnie
Oh to be a fly on the wall when yo get that done. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if you started sneezing up a storm when they're actually piercing you. I know there's footage on Youtube of women getting their nose pierced. One in particular I saw she sneezed a double after they stuck the needle through. Link to comment

LittleGoldfish6
If your not sure what side of the nostril to get pierced, try looking in the mirror and draw with a pen, a dot or a curve (if you want a ring) on one side. See how it looks using a handheld mirror too so you can see your profile. Then try the other side. This should help you decide what side will look best. As for me, I've had my nose pierced for a good while (since I was 18) and I've left the original piercing in the whole time...its an L shape that sticks into the nose and up into the nostril. I know there are different options for studs so don't be shy...ask questions! As the actual piercing, it shouldn't hurt because they'll do it really fast. It just made my eyes tear up a bit and that was it. As for sensitivity...well everyones different, but I noticed no change. Just make sure you keep it clean and don't rub it a lot. It will feel funny for a while but you'll get used to it and then you wont even notice it. Good luck Link to comment
SomethingClever
I've had one for about five years and I love it... and actually, I can use it to make me sneeze. I didn't sneeze when I got it done, but once I've taken the jewelry out , I almost always sneeze putting it back in. It's about the only way I can induce, in fact Link to comment
QueenOfHearts
I'm glad someone asked this...I pierced my nose in college with a sewing needle but had to take the ring out fairly soon after when I graduated because I couldn't have a facial piercing at my new job. I am planning on getting it redone professionally in a few weeks. Link to comment
Lalena
Thanks for all the advice! I have never heard that the left nostril is tied to female reproductive system. That is facinating. Is the right nostril connected to anything? The place I am going only pierced with hoops (no thanks) and J hooks. I guess I will see how irritating it is for me and will go from there with the style I will use permenantly. Can you typically see the hook inside the nose? The place told me no, but I feel as though they would say almost anything to make a sale.Someone else told me they had a really bad headache after the piercing and recommended that I take some sort of headache medicine before I get it done. Anyone else experience this? Or was that situation pure coincidence? Link to comment

Lalena
Well ... I did it!! It looks super cute and I love it. I did have a minor freak out (because I hate needles) but it was all worth it. I'm very happy with the results! No sneezing during the piercing, and acutally I haven't sneezed yet with it at all. I've fought off a few sneezes since I've gotten it because I am scared to see how it feels. My nose is still pretty tender. I will let you know how it goes when it happens! Link to comment

bloom
It's been a couple days since you got it done now - how's it doing? And you should totally do it, Sneesee! Link to comment
Lalena
Joal - I did not scream ... just cried for the half hour before I got it done, LOL!!! (I realize this was a pun, but I wanted to clarify my "freak out") Sneesee - I want to post pictures and totally would have already if we had still had profile pictures that were not seen by the public, but I don't want to make my picture available to everyone. Do you have suggestions on how I can post a picture without guests being able to see it? (Or I can email one to you?) And I agree with Junia ... you should totall get it done! I wish I had sooner!!Junia - Things are good!! I absolutely love it and am so glad I finally got it done. (Plus my high school students think I'm way cool, ha ha!) It's still pretty tender, but it feels better everyday. Thanks for asking!!All - I just posted an "obs" about how the sneezing has been affected if interested. I seriously love this nose ring. LOVE it!!! Link to comment
