I know it's a silly, overcommercialised day (bah humbug, what a load of rubbish etc) but it's coming up again in two weeks, so... are you doing anything about it and if yes, what?

I wrote my partner a dirty limerick. :lol:

You know I was just about to write something awfully bitter woe-is-me stuff here that Sigrith would probably have to delete and spank me for :P But then I figured... perhaps I'll give something very sweet to a sweet friend. After all it's called "friends' day" over here anyway. :)

I plan to buy myself chocolates, see a movie on my own, and cook a big steak for dinner. :D It's my first V-day alone in years, and I'm actually looking forward to treating myself the way I wish I'd been treated all those other times.

I'm probably just going to hang out with my friends, being single, but we see each other rarely enough during the semester (all in one place, anyway) that it's going to be a good time. :D

I always respect holidays...commercialized or not. Essentially, there aren’t to many things to look forward to and a nice change of scenery and pace always makes things better. I won't do a thing for this holiday actually. I might say "Happy Valentines day!" To everyone I happen to see. Maybe give a platonic chocolate to a friend or something...(I have at least 1 good friend that ALWAYs...gives chocolates to everybody. ^_^ So I love stuff like that...makes me feel happy cause...I freakin love like candy.)

Anyway, I won't do much...but I'll pay attention and soak up all the commercial glitter. Yeah commercialization does steal your money and make things cheap...but in a way...it makes things big, special and kind of fun at the same time...even for those people without anything to really do that day. Which is why I like this holiday(and most holidays) even though I'm disgustingly single. LOL

I'll be doing pretty much the same thing JenJen said - did it last year too, and it was kind of nice. Nicer than being bitter about being alone, anyway. Which, in fact, I'm not only getting used to but getting kind of pleased with. And Hot Shot has been very friendly lately, so there's always that little enjoyment even if I really don't need her kind of problems right now.. :lol:

Oh, and I'm writing some RP-sneeze porn of my choice for my Valentine's day, too. :naughty:

I celebrate Valentines Day in the many weeks prior to it. The stores have all their displays out, and toys, and candy, and decorations. I love looking at that stuff!

On the 14th, we will be doing nothing different than any other day. I do not mind much, except that very deep down inside, I would like to be handed a bouquet of roses with a card that reads with something handwritten and mushy.

I like that better, too! I don't do a lot for my friends on Valentines day, but I sometimes give my best friends a bit of chocolate or a greeting card.

I've spent most of my V-days single, and I like to treat myself to something fun and special rather than being bitter about my relationship status. I've temporarily put myself on a super-healthy vegan-ish diet because I normally eat way too much junk food, so I won't be eating any chocolate on the actual holiday. I do plan on stocking up on chocolate and indulging in it after the holiday is over, however. :D Maybe I'll buy myself flowers this year, I've never done that before.

Friends day is a much better idea! Couples have anniversaries, they don't need another day! *launches campaign to do away with Valentines day and replace it with Friendship Day*

@Ouroboros--will there be a petition? I'll sign! I am not a fan of Valentine's day--so artificial. If you have a significant other shouldn't you already be doing sweet, loving things for them anyway, do we really all need a reminder to show others we love them....and not just on one day? Another commercialized "holiday", in my opinion.

Valentines Day... tonguesmiley.gif Well, I made these earrings for the store I work in. And I stupidly underpriced them. If they're still there by the 14th, I'll buy them as a gift to myself. That's prolly the extent of V-Day for me.

Although I LOVE what Pig said about Friends Day. It's brilliant! I think I'd much rather be celebrating that. I have wonderful friends. wub.png
