Isla DeFlores
Hi, folks. I was just wondering if anyone here has ever attended the Fetish Fair Fleamarket in Providence, RI. I'm thinking I might go next weekend for the first time but kind of am nervous and don't know what I'm doing! I know there's not going to be any obvious sneezing group or vendor there, LOL! But at the same time I've been told that people are open and friendly, and folks with less common fetishes seem to find each other. If you've ever been, has this been your experience? Was there anything there of particular interest? I'm thinking maybe I could at least find some nice feathers.... Thanks! Hope everyone is staying well.- isla Link to comment

Jorm
I don't live terribly far from Providence, so it's possible I could get down to that. I can't afford the whole weekend, but it's tempting to go down a day. I've never been, but it looks very cool. Link to comment

Isla DeFlores
It was a little overwhelming, honestly! A lot of people there said that was true of their first time attending. Probably the best part about it was the people-watching--the outfits were incredible, and they were worn by all different types of bodies. Latex, feathers, steel, leather (mmm leather), lots of folks wearing different sorts of play gear and costumes. The vendors were also incredible, so much stuff to ooh and ahh over! If you go for more than one day, though, I would definitely recommend having a hotel room onsite so that you have a quiet place to retreat to. (Obviously the hotel rooms are also used for hook-ups, but.)I think it was kind of lonely for me in a major respect, because of course my fetish wasn't going to be represented in any of the programming or vendors, or even talked about less formally in ways I was aware of. I went with four friends--one of whom knew what my fetish was--and stuck with them as much as I could, but didn't go to any workshops except the newbie one and didn't come out to anyone...though I definitely did get the sense that if I had, people would've thought it was pretty cool, or at least been cool about it. (It would have been pretty hypocritical otherwise. Some of the fetishes there were INTENSE! There was, like, a corral area where people could "groom their ponies." Dude.) I asked at the newbie workshop how people with less typical--or at least less Flea-typical--fetishes found each other, and the moderator indicated that those folks usually arranged to meet up beforehand on FetLife or wherever. (Unfortunately I only knew I was going at the last minute, which is why I didn't mention it here until pretty late.) It would be cool if they had some kind of bulletin board or something where people could seek out like minds during the event itself; I might suggest that to them. Given the sheer number of kinky folks there, I would be very surprised if there hadn't been somebody else into sneezing in attendance. It's just a matter of finding them. And I think I would seriously consider going again only if I knew for sure I could do that, so…will have to plan better for next time. Link to comment
moonbeam_dancer
This sounds like it was a pretty neat experience. I'll have to keep an eye out for it next year. At the very least it's a reason to visit Providence, which I've been wanting to do. And I know my SO would be intrigued by this as well. I'm glad that you had a good time, even if it was a bit overwhelming. Link to comment
