Pokesneeze
Has anyone ever sneezed while playing an instrument or singing? Link to comment
Sitruuna
I don't remember if I've done that, but this one guy I know... 8 D While he was playing bass<3...okay, I admit I might have done that as well once while playing guitar. LoL. Link to comment
Shay
I don't recall ever doing this, but on multiple occassions while playing the didgeridoo(google if you don't know what it is), the vibrations would cause my nose to itch and sometimes give me false starts. Link to comment
Pokesneeze
Thanks for responding!! I've always wondered what some sneezing into a clarinet or trumpet might sound like too. Link to comment
tma
Have done so while playing viola. It is tricky.Oh... and once my high school director sneezed while conducting- that was so Mmmmm! (it helped that he was a cutie ) Link to comment

Bluebird
Not that I can recall, but I've seen it happen to a few of my friends in band. It's not safe depending on what instrument you're playing, I can assure you that xD wouldn't want to sneeze and accidentally bump your face against your mouthpiece or something. That hurts, I know- I've made myself bleed several times during marching season 'cause I'm a klutz Singing... I can't really testify for singing (I feel like I've seen it happen once but I dunno) but I can for acting and its happened sooooo many times. I remember one of my clearest memories was back in my first show I ever did- Back to the 80's- and this one girl who was playing a teacher had to keep stifling like, 3 rapid-fire times during a rehearsal... t'was not good. And on my DVD for my first summer theater show, starting up in one scene the kid who was playing Frakenstein looked as if he sneezed, but I don't even know. Link to comment
Giant Steps
You'd think in 5 years of playing guitar I would've sneezed once of twice in the middle of something but I really can't think of any time that's happened. But if it was to happen I think I'd be alright. You're pretty uninhibited as a guitar player as far as sneezing goes, so you've just got to hope it's not during a difficult part! Link to comment
Pokesneeze
Very interesting! Anyone ever sneeze while performing music? Link to comment
thesneeze123
Ive played piano for 8 years, guitar for 2 years, and percussion for 2 years, and Ive never had to sneeze. I think its cause Im so focused on what Im doing that if a paricle invaded my nostrils I would just block it out. Link to comment
Ali Marie
I've not only done this, but witnessed it quite a few times from co-stars during the rehearsals for the Musicals we've done in the past. Link to comment
sneezefan
I've played piano for many years, and at times while playing I have had to sneeze...not often though. Not sure why, but it does happen at times. I also sing while playing, and maybe that is the possible cause. Link to comment
SneezeDoc4u
Ive played piano for 18 yrs and organ for 8. I play organ at 3 churches and have had to sneeze many times. (organ involves using hands/feet, so these usually are uncovered all over the organ :/ ) Also, play in jazz cafes/bars/clubs and have done it in the middle of the song. lol Link to comment

That's why I'm suprised more singers don't sneeze. Link to comment
stephab13
Never while singing or performing - I've had a crazy need to during many a concert but I haven't actually sneezed. Only going on stage - I think because the light hits it and sets it off. I have in the middle of a flute exam though... Thankfully just after I finished playing!!!I think it's a mind-over-matter thing. I mean, people can hold them back, and the reflex is a partial arc. So I suppose even subconsciously you could just train yourself to stop it whenever possible... Link to comment
NorthernLady
I sing a lot but never had the need to sneeze while doing so. But I don't usually sing where it's dusty or in the throw of a cold... sexy cold voice is never as sexy when I sing Plus I don't want to get laryngitis on top of it.... Link to comment
