Joal 555 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I don't do many self obs but I thought this was worthy of mention......Yesterday as I shut my front door, about to set off for work, I felt a strong urge to sneeze. Normally I would hold them off until I reached the sanctuary of my car but on this occasion, I decided to sneeze. I live on the second floor in a block of flats so as I made my way down the stairs past the other flats, I tried to sneeze quietly so that people inside the flats wouldn't be able to hear me. But each time I sneezed (stifled of course) it further tickled my nose so I must have sneezed about 6 or 7 times. Some I managed to keep pretty quiet, others were not so successful.I think that the fact that I knew people may hear me gave it a small sense of "danger" which sub-consciously may account for my choosing to let the sneezes come. I enjoyed the challenge of having to make them as quiet as possible.Postscript - for the next 2 to 3 hours I was (if I may misquote from Blackadder) snifflier than "Sniffle Jack McSniffles" the winner of last years Mr Sniffles competition.....(as I am now in fact, it's been that kind of summer for me)
tma Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Awwww!! Can totally see that.Yay for Blackadder quote- you totally win points just on that. Bless x 7 (I figured that I'd round up- just in case ).
shy guy Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Bless you. Sneezing quietly is something that's very difficult for me, so I give you credit for being at lease somewhat successful. I actually feel kind of sorry for my neighbors, since I leave for work very early, and they have no doubt be awakened by the sound of my sneezing on more than one occasion.
Lalena Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Many blessings!!! I wish I was a fly on the wall in your building!

Quoux Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 D'awww, that's rather adorable! Is said volume preferably expressed in your forum post strictly a publically regarded concern of yours? About a year ago, I completely altered the way I sneeze altogether. Before that point, I sneezed in a relatively "standard" manner, of moderate volume, etc. My intention was to create a habit of sneezing less utterly and loudly; contrarily, as a result, currently I just clench my nose tightly and give an abnormally feminine, abrupt, and awkward portrayal of what a sneeze shall typically be conceived as. Indeed, it is considerably quieter, but I basically ruined my own sneezing conceptually. Personally, I find it tragic.
Raven Insight Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Bless you.I find keeping quiet to be rather hard for allergy fits, props.
