Ragweed season...

Ok. So I'm allergic to quite a few things, but as I've gotten older I've kind of "grown out" of a few of them. All except for one: Ragweed. And in my area, August and September are THE WORST time of year for me. It doesn't matter where I am or what I'm doing, I'm just miserable. At least the allergy torture isn't NEARLY as bad as when I have a cold... Except this one day.

I was getting up for work and I could already tell that it was going to be a bad day. My eyes itched, my nose was running, and I literally WOKE UP sneezing. It was miserable. Immediately I popped a Claritin and went about my morning routine. I sneezed in the showers at least seven or eight times... and I've found if you just let them out instead of holding back (works well only if you're ALONE) then it usually clears your nasal passages faster. So I'm usually not a "big sneeze" kind of gal... but this morning I was. It didn't help that this was the first time that I've dealt with allergy sneezes that just kind of... stuck.

Well after I showered and managed to get my makeup on (totally foregoing the "mineral powder" foundation in fear of THAT reaction) I got in my car. As soon as the AC hit me I felt immediately better. But it was still there, that tickle right in the back of your nose that just lets you know it's NOT over. But I figured a ride in the AC would make it all okay.

Well... it did. Until I turned on the radio. Now I'm not sure if any of you listen to the stations that do the "text to win" word for the iHeart Radio concert in Las Vegas... But the word of the day HAD to be - just HAD to be "feather." (How does that have ANY relevance to the iHeart Radio Festival?!?!)

It set me OFF. Just thinking about it. I was like, "Oh Jes- Aishoo! Sto- Aishoo! Heh... heh... Aishoo! Aishoo! God dam- dam... dam... AISHOO! AISHOO! Heh... ha... Aishoo!"

It was miserable. If it HADN'T been me, I would have enjoyed it. But it was. Ugh. No more radio for this girl during allergy season...

Bless you. I remember a girl i knew who always was set off by ragweed. If she only knew what she did to me when she started to sneeze.

Whoa! Bless you lots! While I must say I kind of do enjoy your suffering, I still hope you'll get better. ;)

Ugh, I've been starting to feel that, too. We have to live in one of the grassier areas of a desert. My luck...but I must say, even in your brief suffering (god I am a sadist xD), I wish it was that easy for me to trigger someone, just by saying a word biggrin.png

I can't hold it against ANY of you that you enjoy my suffering, because it goes both ways. That's why I love this forum; there's understanding here about an issue that NO ONE else would understand. And I'm glad it brought you some entertainment value.

Miss Monstro - Have you ever been reading one of the stories on here (I do ALL the time) and found yourself sneezing randomly? It's like a subconscious need to actually experience something you're imagining in your head. ;o) Plus all those words you've listed are just so great. SO great. :o)

Blesses! I've never been set off by a word before ... that is so cool!

To be fair, I'm not NORMALLY set off by words. It was just that day that my nose was SUPER sensitive and therefore I think that it was easier to trigger me. HAHAHA

I have to admit that it would be awesome to meet someone who was triggered simply by words, but I definitely wouldn't want it to be me...
