Hey all! So I haven't been around the forum in ages, but I've been sneezing up a storm lately, and I thought you might want to know about it. biggrin.png

In the last few years, I've developed seasonal allergies, and if the pattern keeps up...they seem to be getting worse! My symptoms are getting more severe, and my allergy sneezes are bigger and stronger than in previous years. Allergy season starts for me in late May/early June, and goes on through maybe early October. I've been experimenting with a number of natural remedies to keep some of the more annoying symptoms at bay, and after a few trial runs, I've found a couple that seem to work. But, even when I'm taking my remedies like a good little girl, I still sneeze a lot...at least twice as much as during the rest of the year.

A few weeks ago, we had a crazy high pollen day in my area. (By that point I had found a remedy that I liked...but I had accidentally skipped a couple of doses.) I didn't have to get up early that day, but I woke up at about 7 am because I couldn't breathe well through my nose anymore. I also had a bit of a tickly throat. Now, it's not totally abnormal for me to have these morning symptoms, even when my allergies are somewhat under control, so I didn't think too much of it at the time. I sat up and pulled a tissue from the box at my bedside and blew my nose several times. I went through about three more tissues before I realized that not only was my nose still blocked, but it was also a bit runny and extremely itchy. I rubbed my nose through the damp tissue, and when that didn't work, I aimed a pair of sneezes into a fresh one. "HET'CHOO! Heh...heh...HEH-SHOO!" I blew my nose with a little honk and carried my box of tissues into the living room with me.

I didn't want to make tea, or eat anything, or do any chores yet. I just wanted to sit on the couch and dab at my eyes, which were suddenly watery, and blow my nose, which was still extremely stuffed and itchy, but not yet on the verge of a sneeze. After going through another few tissues, I could feel a sneeze materalizing, and I looked into the light streaming through the bay window to coax the sneeze out. "AHT'CHEW! The forceful, yet slightly girly sound was barely muffled by the thin tissue at all. By this point, my nasal passages already felt quite swollen, and my nostrils were already beginning to get sore and pink from all the forceful rubbing I was doing to my nose.

After a few more minutes I attemped to go about my morning. I put on tea and went down to the lower level of our split level house to feed my cats. Just as I was pouring food into the second cat's bowl, my nose was hit with the most intense, deep, burning itch that I had felt in a long time. (It probably didn't help that I was in the dustiest room in our house...I don't think we've vacuumed in there in months.) I scrubbed at my nose with the hand that wasn't holding the bag of cat food, but that did nothing. My breath began to heave in a buildup, and I bent over with a tremendous uncovered sneeze. "HEKKK-SHEWWW!!" Surprisingly, I hadn't spilled the entire bag of cat food all over the floor. I set the bag down before bending over with another sneeze. "AHHH-CHHHH!!" I sniffled loudly and decided to run upstairs to fetch my tissues. I sneezed twice more, on the way up the stairs. "HET-T'SHHHH!! UH...UHHHH-SHHHHH!!" I found my box of tissues, pulled one out and headed for my bedroom, where I could sneeze in relative private. "HUH-SHXHHH!!" I sneezed wetly into a tissue as I ran down the hall. Once in my room, I continued to sneeze. "HUP-PSHHHH!! HEH...heh...heh...HEHK-KKKSSHH!!" By this point my sneezes were soaking the tissue, and I grabbed two clean ones to aim my last sneeze into. "HEH-KSSXXHH!!" I sat there, sniffling, as I waited for a moment to see if I would sneeze yet again, but that appeared to be the end of the fit. I blew my nose forcefully at least six times. I had just sneezed a fit of eight - that's a new record for me!

Not long after my epic sneezing fit, I caved and decided, for the first time in my life, that I needed to take a Benadryl if I was possibly going to survive the rest of the day. It started to kick in about 30 minutes later, and while normally the sleepiness that comes with the drug would be a disadvantage, on a day when I had nothing to do, it was nice to be able to go back to sleep for a while. Just before I dozed off, I sneezed one last, spraying "HET'CHHH!" over my left shoulder.

Wow, bless you! 8 sneezes is a lot, especially for those of us who aren't used to sneezing in multiples.

Fantastic obs! I enjoyed every second of it. smile.png
