Please indulge my curiosity.

Has anyone ever used sneezewort or ragweed to induce? If so, did it bring on a fit? How long did it last? Did you tickle the inside of your nostrils or just on the outer edges? Were you with anyone or alone?

I know this is an off-the-wall question, but a I think I have sneezing fit subfetish. The longer the fit, the more aroused I get. I have had dreams about massive fits caused by these plants.

I would welcome any anecdotes about sneezewort and ragweed.

I never have but I'm interested to know more! Wouldn't you have to be allergic to ragweed or sneezewort for it to cause a reaction though?

Sneezing powder doesn't work on me but I'm not particularly sensitive. An ex bought like 10 packets after I told him about the fetish so he could induce for me. Didn't really work on him either but everyone's different! I'm not sure where you're from but we have a chain called Five Below that stocks joke products. Also, I think Spencer's might if you have one of those. Otherwise, joke shops I would imagine.

I don't think you have to be allergic. I heard sneezewort and ragweed can make ANYONE sneeze.

I don't know about sneezewort, but with ragweed I'm pretty sure you have to be allergic to it. Ragweed doesn't seem to have any effect on me and I often have a lot of it growing around my house. My SO on the other hand would likely have sneezing fits from the stuff even if he were shut up inside my house.

So I looked it up sneezewort quick and apparently the powdered leaves make you sneeze. I guess this works the same way as sneezing powder? I wonder if it's more effective... and a common item to find?

Not sure about ragweed though, yeah. I hear of people having a ragweed allergy quite often though so I always assumed you actually had to be allergic. Wish that wasn't the case though! I'm not allergic to anything-- it would be fun to have something.

You do have to be allergic to ragweed but not sneezewort. Though I think sneezing powder is made up of different chemicals than sneezewort.

Am pretty sure ragweed does require some sensitivity to the plant. The only thing I know about sneezewort is that it may have killed Alexander the Great.

Sneezewort is really common in the UK - it grows on roadsides and the like. From what I've read, the dried and powdered leaves make anyone sneeze. Unfortunately I live in Australia now so I can't try it!!

I tried to induce using ragweed once because I am allergic to it. Didn't really bring on too many sneezes, maybe 2-3. All it did was make me really congested and I coughed for a while. I've tried sneezing powder too but that did nothing for me except burn. Personally, I think sneezing powder and pepper are the same thing because they both have the same consistency. Never heard of or tried sneezewort. But if it's not native to the US, then that's not an option for me.

Thanks for all the replies. I always thought if you tickled the inside of your nostrils and inhaled the spores thorougly, they would spread to tickle your nasal membranes, touching off the sneezing fit of a lifetime, guaranteed! Looks like I could be wrong.Thanks to all for educating me. Now I'm curious. Will it work on me? If I find either of the plants, I'll inhale and report results (if I can stop sneezing long enough to type.) LOL I need to research online to find out where sneezewort and ragweed grow. I haven't seen it in the Northwest where I live.

I'd be interested to hear your results! You could always try an audio recording your experiment too. That sounds like fun! It looks like sneezewort is common in pill form in the US, but I don't know if crushing it to a powder would have the same affect as the powdered leaves...

It used to be a byproduct of some industrial process. They banned it because they thought it might be hazardous. It's probably still around in some out-of-the-way shop somewhere, but mostly it's fine pepper.
