SneezySal
Do people who sneeze loudly also blow their nose loudly?A couple of exceptions I know of:1. I have a pretty loud sneeze, particularly for a girl, but when I blow my nose it's just "ssshhh", like a deflating librarian.2. A girl I was friendly with in college was small and very thin, and sneezed, even without stifling, as if she was saying "itch", but her noseblowing sounded like the QEII arriving in port.Have other forum members noticed whether quiet/loud sneezers are quiet/loud nose blowers? Blah!?
I haven't really noticed too much, actually. I think most people I know blow their noses fairly softly, so I sort of stopped paying attention to any differences a while ago. That being said, I suppose I do have a little more evidence to the contrary. Most people I know blow softly, but I also know a few loud sneezers, so I suppose that would mean the loud sneezers I know aren't also loud blowers. Link to comment
Coffee Mug
My boyfriend sneezes are quite loud but when he blows his nose he's not so loud so I don't know really... Link to comment
DublinShadow
I sneeze really loudly and my nose blows are pretty much the same. I literally cannot hold back either one and trying only seems to make it worse. Link to comment
Rick
I can only give a couple of examples - one that disproves your theory, and one that supports it.One of my work colleagues has a pretty loud sneeze - enough to make you jump sometimes! - but blows his nose into a tissue in gentle, airys puff afterwards.I'm the other example! I tend to roar my sneezes out at top volume - like "aaah-AAHHHHH-HHUURHWAREEESHOOOOOOOOO!!!" - sorry, I'm terrible at spelling sneezes, even my own!I also blow my nose like a foghorn - not just my assessment, but other people have told me that as well. I learnt to blow my nose well as a boy (because I have hayfever), and I have always blown it loudly, but as I went into my early teens it just got stronger and louder. Now as an adult, my foghorn nose-blow is louder than ever (I blew my nose into a bandana handkerchief when I was out in a local shopping centre last week, and a group of teenage girls walking ahead of me dissolved into giggles and talked about it being "hilarious" - think they were a bit taken by surprise!), but I'm not exaggerating either my sneeze or my nose-blow for effect - both are just genuinely that loud!! deepinhale
I'm a loud sneezer but I don't think my noseblows are very loud. I never have to blow my nose very hard to clear it so that may have something to do with it. Link to comment
Enkidom
My sneezes are quite loud, but my noseblows are generally quiet, sort of multiple shhh-shhhh-shhhh type blows. I can't say as I've noticed whether it's a general trait though. Incidentally, I LOVE the expression "like a deflating librarian"! Please can I use it in future? I promise to attribute full credit where it is due! Link to comment

marv77
It would make sense if it were true. I could imagine that how loud you are in general is related to some extent to certain personality traits (i.e. being an extrovert). Link to comment
Ciel
Not for me. I can sneeze very loudly if I don't try to hold them back, but my noseblows are usually quiet. Mainly a few gurgling blows and I'm done. I don't really prefer honking blows. Link to comment
Bluebird
I sneeze somewhere between medium and loud, and I've found recently that I blow either soft or loud, depending on how much I have to blow. The louder ones are kind of embarrasing. Scratch kind of, even; I had to excuse myself to the bathroom during chemistry class today just to get some relief (and of course, there were other people in there with me but I doubt they were paying attention). honkmaster
Both my sneezes and nose blows tend to be pretty loud. Link to comment
Coffee Mug
A friend of mine always sneezes in a pretty loud way without control but when he blows his nose he blows it sometimes softly and sometimes with a slight honk, first a nostril then the other. So no, I don't think the statement fits for everyone Link to comment
hay-choo
Kate Lawler's a loud sneezer and honker Link to comment
