Sitruuna
Well... I think the whole... panicky "omg, you must sneeze like this and then do this and make sure you don't do this because there's f'ing GERMS" is silly and unnecessary. There's somekind of point in trying to not spread one single germ if you know there is a cancer patient who has just got their immune system lower by the treatment they are getting present (or anything like that) but otherwise I don't really see a point in this. But the elbow sneeze? I think it looks pretty damn hot/cute when someone does that. I have seen people do it (mostly some young guys) and I don't think any of the ones I know have done it that way for sanitary reasons... Anyway.I see it just as another way to cover one's sneezes and I find it nice when people do that. Because it looks nice. Not because someone says it's sanitary. The only thing I don't get or like is sneezing fully uncovered and towards what-ever-happens-to-be-on-the-way-of-the-sneeze. Uncovered can be fine, too, but it has to be directed somewhere, for example the ground, and it should look... controlled. Hard to explain and it's anyway an exception.So... The thing I don't get is why people have to fuss so much. It's just good for you to get your immune system something to fight. If we weren't exposed to anything, we wouldn't have a functioning immune system, or so I have learned. Might be that this information is wrong, though. Maybe immune system just developes on itself. *shrug* But somehow I find that hard to believe. Link to comment
ccv
My sneezes leave the crook of my elbow covered in saliva. And then there's the awkward situation of dealing with the sneeze residue on your arm sigh...I had a similar post in discussion regarding this problem. Link to comment
Paul
I agree, it can be kind of nasty, especially if your sneezes are messy. A good friend of mine keeps sneezing in her elbow, although her sneezes are terribly wet, and since the crooked elbow can be used as a shield, the drops of her saliva sometimes spray people BEHIND her.If you haven't, please write some obs of this. I know many of us here would love it. Link to comment
Kuchafya613
I think it depends on how you sneeze. I, myself, don't have a wet or messy sneeze, so sneezing into my elbow seems like a perfectly acceptable option. However, I can see the potential problem there. Link to comment
Kuchafya613
Yeah I'll be honest like I don't really care that much when someone sneezes into the crook of their elbow. I also don't really like it when someone sneezes into a hankerchief or a tissue but I do like it better than sneezing into the crook of an elbow. My personal favorites are sneezing into cupped hands, sneezing while pinching their nose, sneezing onto their wrist/ back of hand, and the sneeze where it makes the sneezer bend over at the waist and its uncovered.I also notice that how they sneeze has a relation with the sound of their sneeze. This is what I tend to notice:Sneeze into elbow/hankerchief: normal "Atchoooo"Sneeze into cupped hands: usually female, girly, high pitched "HECHIEW"Sneeze pinched/ on wrist: stifle or half stifle, more stifle for pinched nose and half for on wristSneeze uncovered w/ bent at waist: loud, violent sneezeAnyone else notice this?I've noticed a lot of people sneezing loudly and violently into their elbow. And a lot of people who don't cover their sneezes sneeze normally. (Just from my observations) Link to comment
boogerbrains
i've noticed it's become almost rude to sneeze into your hands because the idea that elbowplace is more sanitary is so socially accepted now?? like ive seen that met with eww which tbh i understand it's like we finally figured out how germs work but uhh cupped hands is cuter imo Link to comment

That's why I like to sneeze under my shirt collar whenever possible. Link to comment
Malachite
Just... No. I don't like it, I won't do it and NO (Well, actually I kind of do it, if I'm somewhere public and just want to be inconspicuous...) Link to comment
ccv
Yes, please post some if you have any! I would definitely love them. Link to comment
sneezeobsessed
People should just sneeze into their hands and then wash them Link to comment
Introvertedme
Well, I love seeing people sneeze into the crook of their elbow. Couldn't care less if they're getting their sleeves a little wet - it's the polite thing to do, and still more sanitary than sneezing into your bare hands (I imagine very few people actually wash their hands immediately after, before touching anything). I'm a fan of polite sneezing in general. Turning away, excusing oneself, sneezing into the crook of the arm or into a tissue... It's the thought that counts, not so much whether the chance of germs being spread is actually reduced or not. This pretty much sums up how I feel. Link to comment
SpookyScarySkeleton
Yeh I kinda hate it too. I've gotten use to my friend J lifting his shirt over his mouth&nose. Maybe a little more polite or sanatary? Feel free to agree to disagree. Also that is hot when people duck there heads into their shirt, more coverage too on germ level. Ehem carry on debating wich is best, but the shirt over nose/mouth Wins for me . I've gotten use to doing that too. Link to comment
