ToastedBagel Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 If I pray, will people or myself sneeze more often? Like I want to sneeze more and I want the people around me to sneeze more, so would praying help?
Heathcliff Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 You can probably answer your own question already; some people might believe praying would help, others (like me) believe it won't.
murphy dee Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Praying...to God? To make people sneeze? I'm not religious but I'm pretty sure that's not how God operates. "Dear God, please deliver unto me more fetish material. Amen."
BootyBurgers Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Yeah i'm going to have to agree with ^^^^them. I don't think that praying will help. I kind of feel like praying for more sneezyness in the word is about the same as praying that you'll get a new car for xmas.
MoonDuck Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Heh... I've prayed in class that someone'll sneeze... I'm not weird... and someone does... most likely a coincidence... pretty sure it is....
count tiszula Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 God moves in a mysterious wayHis wonders to perform. We can scarcely expect to understand it. though doubting the power of prayer does not seem possible.Perhaps He sometimes gets bored with all those sparrows falling or flying through halls or whatever they do and just longs to see a really good sneeze.
Ouro Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 No. But then I don't believe in god, so obviously I wouldn't.
Owen Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Maybe praying to Satan would be a better idea since its quite a mischievous request haha
Azrael Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 im gonna be practical here. NO lol. if that kind of thing worked, imagine how insane everyone would go...
bloom Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I would think a deity has bigger fish to fry than making people sneeze.
Hygge Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I think putting the religious aspect aside, there is some freaky association with thinking about something and it happening. And maybe that's just noticing it more because you're thinking about it, but in case of a sneeze, we always notice it more. And when I think about it, like wondering who the next person in the room to sneeze will be... soon after someone sneezes. There's even a term for it in psychology... I can't remember what it is, I think it might be a phrase, like in latin. But it just happens, and prayer is a way of getting those thoughts in your mind and maybe a coincidence will happen. For the record, I've prayed for SO long and often about getting sick. I've wanted to get sick for so long. And one of the things I've forced myself to just STOP doing is praying about it. Because in the back of my mind, when I know I've been exposed to germs I'm always like... eh, just pray about it, maybe it'll push it that much further and I'll totally get sick. Dear God please let me get sick blah blah.... And it never happens. And I'm so determined and frustrated about this getting sick thing lol... I overanalyze everything and I'm like... if praying isn't helping, I shouldn't do it. Maybe it's a selfish prayer that God makes sure does NOT come true just because I'm selfishly requesting something for myself and it's so desperate and obsessive lol. So I resist that part of the urge to do everything I can possibly think of to make my wish come true. Not gonna pray about it for myself. I've even asked a (very religious) friend of mine to pray that God would answer my prayer, or give me what I've been after for so long. And she did, even though she didn't specifically know that it was something like this. And still... no illness for me lol. So try it, why not. If it's not helping, you don't have to stick with it.

I can't remember what it is, Confirmation bias. I think that's the one you're thinking of.More on-topic, since i don't want to hijack here, I think that if you believe that God will help you, then best pray. Religion, in my experience with it, is a very intimate and personal matter. Trust your own heart & mind.
zneeze Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 I know a few people who have replied have identified as atheists, though I won't pretend to know everyone's religious beliefs here. Just want to balance it out as a Christian by saying no, that's not how praying works. TheOtherGuy put it best xD

But that being said, as a Christian myself I can't say I've never asked God to throw me a little sneeze bonus
Photic Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I'm an atheist myself so I definitely don't believe praying does anything. However, there have been a few times where I've really wanted to see a particular person sneeze so I'd think about them sneezing really intensely as if to mentally persuade them into sneezing. I know it sounds ridiculous, but there's been a few times when the person actually did sneeze and it kinda freaked me out. I'm sure it's just a coincidence though.
Sophie<3 Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) I feel like I shouldn't talk about religion... way too confused about everything myself... Edited June 15, 2014 by Sophie<3

haeeshoo Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I'm convinced praying will NOT work. Having said that, perhaps it's interesting to note that in Muslim religion "The Prophet said, 'Allah loves the sneeze and dislikes the yawn. When someone sneezes and then praises Allah, it is a duty for every muslim who hears him to say, "May Allah have mercy on you." As for the yawn, it is from Satan, so one should repress it as much as possible. When a man says, "Haw!" Satan laughs at him."Sounds like Deities have their little kinks as well
Kate Morgan Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I am definitely religious but I don't think that it will help not saying that God couldn't do it I just don't think it work that way lol I've definitely tried it a lot before. Especially when I was younger and didn't have access to the things that are on the internet now.

PrettySneezes Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Instead of asking God to send you more fetish material, why not pray for the wisdom and strength to do His will instead. Just saying.
