So, I told my SO.

I offhandedly mentioned that mentioned that I had realized a new kink relatively recently, and she very excitedly asked me to tell her what it was. We've been together forever and we know pretty much everything about each other, so it wasn't unreasonable, but I completely clammed up. I get embarrassed really easily and I just couldn't bring myself to tell her. So the conversation went a little bit like this, with her asking questions and me burying my face into a pillow.

Her: Okay, so can I guess?

Me: Uhhh... Sure?

Her: Okay, okay, awesome. So... Have you read fic of it?

Me: Mhm.

Her: What fandom?

Me: Hannibal.

Her: Did you read it on AO3?

Me: No.

Her: Fanfiction.net?

Me: No.

Her: Huh? Then where did you read it?

Me: I can't tell you. That would give it away.

Her: Hmmm, okay. Is it... something you can do by yourself?

Me: Yeah.

Her: Is it... Who was doing it in the fic?

Me: Hannibal.

Her: Um. Is it something you can do with your hands?

Me: Not... really?

Her: Does it have something to do with your face?

Me: Yes.

Her: Okay.

[lots and lots of totally way-off guessing later]

Me: It's, umm... It's involuntary, if that helps.

Her: OH! SNEEZING!

(I couldn't make myself answer and ended up just smashing my face further into the pillow.)

Her: That's it, isn't it? Aww, that's cute!

Me: [laughing nervously] Cute?

Her: Yeah! What is it that does it for you? Is it the loss of control?

Me: Um... Basically. The fact that it's an involuntary response, I guess.

Her: That makes a lot of sense. So, do you wanna make me sneeze sometime?

At that point I fell off the bed and maybe started hyperventilating a little bit.

But yeah, I had no idea it would go as well as it did. She's so understanding and I consider myself so lucky to have her in my life. I love that no matter how embarrassed I am about things, she's always cool about it. I thought I'd share that with you guys. c:

Congrats! Aww, her reaction was so sweet. It gives me hope for my future, haha. I've never even considered telling an SO. I think my best friend could probably put it together if she thought about it, but I don't have any plans to tell her, either. Which is a shame, because I'll read a great fic on here and want to share it with her, and then realize, wait, that'll give everything away, haha. So happy for you that everything worked out!

I have told two different significant others that I trusted completely at the time, and I have no reason to believe either has told anyone or would, but both relationships have since ended. They were also both very accepting. The first only ever sneezed in my presence once after the first time, and we were at dinner, and I got very nervous and said "bless you," and we didn't talk about it after that. The second would sometimes induce for me, always his idea though. I could never bring myself to ask unless he seemed to want me to ask him.
