Glum winter day (Yaichi / House of the Five Leaves)

Here's a couple of characters from anime House of the Five Leaves. I would basically characterize this series as "old Edo yakuza slice-of-life" or something like that It's a very atmospheric little series.

Oh, and I'm not usually much of a shipper, but damn these two just melt my heart. Yaichi is a cool, mysterious gangster. Masa is an incredibly shy and awkward young rônin, desperate for work. Together they are so darn cute! There was a scene in the last episode that was basically the ideal prelude for a bad cold, but it never effing happened! The disappointment! Or at least it wasn't shown! Anyway, I found it such terrible mistake from the authors that I had to draw how I thought that lovely scene should have continued. Yes.

So warm your sake and grab your sandals!

Oh, and yes I did go a bit crazy with the snow. But I was sorta going "When do I get to the snow and trees? When? When?!!" all the time so perhaps it was inevitable... I guess it's just that I'm a nature painter at heart.

Oooh, House of the Five Leaves - one of my favourite anime! I saw this anime four years ago and still love it! It's very beautiful and I like Yaichi&Masa relationship a lot.

So I'm happy you decided to draw them together during a very emotional scene in the last episode of this anime. I admit, when I watched this scene, I also thought it lacked a sneeze or cough from Yaichi. It was freezing and he stayed out all the night...

Anyway, we should be happy that we've got Masa's sneeze in the 6th episode.
