Guest
Ever been really embarrassed after sneezing, or after having a sneezing attack? If you have, when, where were you, what where you doing, and who was around when it happened? Also, why were you embarrassed? My most embarrassing sneeze was one I had when I was in the fifth grade. I was bogged down with a horrible head cold and an extremely runny nose which I had as an inevitable result. While everyone was blathering joyously away over lunch, I was fruitlessly trying to convince my best friend that I wasn't sick (all while fighting a sneezing fit). The buzz of conversation had quieted, and it was at that unfortunate moment where I unleashed a wet, raucous sneeze and ended up launching "snot rockets" from my nose in front of my crush and his fellows, the popular kids. Even though a lot of those who witnessed it (which was a good percentage of the cafeteria) were thoroughly grossed-out (and with good reason), my crush was surprisingly sympathetic, so my abashment wasn't as severe as it could have been. Luckily I was spared from having to listen to further murmurings about it because I was sent home with a fever not long after. Link to comment
squealofapproval
The love of my life, the girl I can't keep my mind off of, and I were in a cafe and -I was pretending it was a date ssssh- and I drank a thing of Coke and sneezed it out onto her. Luckily the food wasn't there yet but I left quickly and locked myself in the bathroom. Until she came back there and said it was ok and it was still a cute sneeze. But in my mind I'm still frraking out whenever someone mentions that restaurant. 0_0 Link to comment

Seniorstatus14
I have! Last year in Biology during the middle of a pretty intense pollen season my Biology teacher brought in some big flowers with giant pollen tubes in them so that we could dissect the pollen tube and look at it under the microscope. My partner didn't have pollen allergies, but a lot of kids in my class did. I have horrible allergies and this happened to be right before I had started taking clariton and so I was sneezing along with the class while she lectured, but then when it came time to dissect the pollen tube my eyes were red and streaming, I couldn't stop sneezing and I was sniffling like crazy because the pollen was all over my finger and clothes. Needless to say that my partner had to take over I just made observations from afar. I was pretty embarrassed that I couldn't do my own work just because of allergies Link to comment

If you have, when, where were you, what where you doing, and who was around when it happened? Also, why were you embarrassed?Yes! I remember this like it like yesterday.. I had just moved to a new town. First day of school... everything went smoothly.. until about the last 2 hours of school. They were mowing the lawn and my allergies weren't having it no matter what i did. I tried rubbing and blowing my nose and it never worked... I finally blew out in a 33 sneezed fit, which everyone in class counted and a couple of other students obnoxiously yelled "bless you"multiple times... I was traumatized!! It was literally sneeze after sneeze... with no stopping or controlling them... right in front of everyone it seemed. I hate sneezing in public... so the fact that I would completely defenseless no matter what I did... was super embarrassing.. along with the attention being drawn to me. Link to comment

If it was me, I probably would have just left the room, and went to the restroom or something. Thanks so much for sharing! Link to comment
SneezyP
Never been embarrassed by a sneeze itself, but one time in high school I sneezed into my hand while talking with a friend and an unusual amount of snot came out. There weren't any tissues nearby so I kind of just concealed the palm of my hand and waited until I could excuse myself to go to the washroom. But then a situation somehow arose where a high-five was called for. I was put on the spot so I went for it, making sure to reveal my snotty hand clearly as I was bringing it up so that he wouldn't actually go through with the contact. I figured I could play it off as a joke. I tried to convince him it was just play goop that I got at a store, but he didn't buy it. Link to comment

Sarah_Snow
Whenever I sneeze in yoga class it's really embarrassing because absolutely EVERYBODY hears it, even though I'm pretty good at sneezing quietly. Plus I always lose my balance at whatever pose we're supposed to be holding. Link to comment

What does it feel like to sneeze that many times in a row? I'm always amazed by huge fits like that because I don't understand it from a first person point of view. Link to comment

MeForever
Personally I don't have any particular embarrassing sneezes, but I can remember 2 moments that where pretty uncomfortable ether for me of the person who sneezed. The first one happened in Spanish class. One of my classmates sneezed, but it was apparently quite messy, and she couldn't take her hand away after sneezing, so she had to get up, try to open the door and walk to the restroom (I wanted to write bathroom ) all while still holding her hand to her face. It was quite funny. The second one was when I was sitting in the hallway with a friend waiting for class to start, when he suddenly sneezed VERY loudly, and I'm a very bad blesser, even worse back then, but we where the only one there and not blessing him would be even more uncomfortable. So I silently mumbled something along the lines of "-less you..." (my voice always seems to fade away or miss the first few letters when I bless someone) It was quite uncomfortable and embarrassing, since he turned bright red after he sneezed too. Link to comment

My sympathies about the blessing thing -- because when I initially started blessing people (my freshman year of college), I felt similarly awkward the first few times. ccv
Mine happened years ago in class back when I used to sneeze into my elbow. My sneezes almost always come exclusively from the mouth and if I have on a t-shirt, my skinny arms can't cover both my mouth and nose. As the sneeze came on, I buried my mouth into my elbow and left my nose uncovered, as usual. I felt spit hit my arm as expected, but this one time, a gooey string of snot flew out of my uncovered nose and onto the desk. I was absolutely mortified and wiped it off with my hand as quickly as I could. I don't know if anyone saw, but it was still really embarrassing, and it sure felt like 1000 eyes were on me. SneezyKateM
I have veen embarassed by my sneezing so many times I could fill a whole thread with them, lol. They are embarassing because my sneezing fits can last a long time and I cant do anything about it and everyone stares and makes comments. Its especially embarrassing if the fit is messy and I cant hide it. Once in college, in an upper division bio class, which waa smaller, only about 50 people. I usually sit way in the back so I can leave for the bathroom easy if allergies act up bad. That time I was late so I had to take a seat more in the middle of the room. We were doing some group work and I started having this really long fit. At first a couple people said bless you. After like 10 sneezes most of the class just watched me, and some people were counting, others made comments like why cant you stop, is that real, etc. Since i was in the middle of the room it was too difficult for me to get out so I was stuck there. It felt like I was this weird side show. Its kinda funny looking back on it but it was extremely embarassing at the tine. Link to comment
