Go home, cold. You're drunk.

Alright, friends, I woke up sick on Monday and ever since this cold has confused the heck out of me!

I'll tell you what happened in all the detail that I can remember, kay? I have to warn you, though. This thing knows no logic...

Monday: I was sleeping over at my boyfriend's. We were cuddling and it was all pretty comfortable. We fell asleep really close to each other and... sorry, off topic. It was still dark out when I woke up with a HORRIBLY sore throat! I mean, I didn't even try to talk and still knew that it would hurt. It came out of nowhere, too. My throat just felt so raw and swollen and owwie.... I had a feeling that my tonsils were also involved, so I was like: "Yay, tonsillitis. Fun."

I couldn't go back to sleep and started croaking: "My throat...really hurts." That woke up my boy L. He just held me really close and I continued to whine for a bit, then just shut up and tried going back to sleep, but couldn't. Then the alarm went off and I was like: "Nooo..."

I told my boyfriend how bad I felt and he felt my forehead and said that I didn't have a fever, so probably just a cold and nothing worse. Well, I wasn't convinved... Then we went to breakfast and he made me some tea with honey and I drank that. I also ate toast because I was really hungry, but swallowing stuff really hurt. Luckily, my boyfriend also had some cough drops, which he gave to me. So then we went to school and I decided to ignore my throat, only used up half of the cough drops, drank a lot of water and began feeling better. I could actually talk to people again.

Everybody was really excited, because this was the last day of school, but I was just tired and exhausted. Then, on the way home I sneezed in public!! For the first time in forever! I was waiting for my train, when my nose got really itchy and I was just too tired to fight it. The sneeze was kind of pleasant actually. It came out really wet and only semi-strongly. I covered with my arm and it sounded kind of like: "Hih-Itshhh-ew!" Really wet and kind of slow. I was pretty embarrassed, of course.

Then when I came home, I began to feel really warm and sick, so I took my temperature and I actually had a mild fever. So I went to bed and fell asleep early. And that was Day 1.

Tuesday: I woke up with my lymph nodes feeling like walnuts. They were just really swollen and incredibly sensitive..! It was crazy! I couldn't even tilt my head the slightest bit without them feeling like they were going to burst! I had no school that day (and all week) so I just stayed in bed for a long time, because I felt so weak and tired. Other than that, though, I noticed that my throat was better and my nose was only the slightest bit stuffy.

Staying in bed for so long really seemed to help. In the afternoon, I felt tons better and told myself that my lymph nodes probably became so active to fight off the infection. I was slightly euphoric, thinking that I managed to shake the thing in just two days. I went to choir, actually, and my voice worked surprisingly well! So that night I was almost back to normal. And that was Day 2.

Wednesday: In the morning I felt...fine. Lymph nodes alright. Throat okay. Nose just a tiny bit stuffy. I told my boyfriend I was back to healthy and he came over. We took a long walk, watched Supernatural... We had a great time. However, towards the night, I began getting kind of sneezy. We were cuddling on my bed, when I had to turn away to sneeze. I buried my face in the crook of my elbow and sneezed kind of like. "Huh-Itchh!" I said: "Sorry, I'm better, but I'm still kind of sneezy..." He said it wasn't a problem. Later that night, we proceeded to some...adult cuddling (keeping it clean here, but you know what I mean) and we were spooning when my nose got really itchy. I sneezed like four or five times then (not all in a row) and they were increasingly wet and shook my whole body. I buried my face on the pillow each time. My boyfriend just laughed, said Bless You and...continued. It was...kind of funny. So then we fell asleep,,,

Thursday: ...and in the morning I woke up sooo stuffed up. He had to leave, but I was way to tired to get up. So I just stayed on the couch with all of my tissues, lazily blew my nose and then went back to sleep. It went on like that for a while. At some point, I got up, because I actually had some things to do. Towards noon, my nose sort of cleaned up. I could talk again without sounding completely stuffed up. Actually, I felt well enough to leave the house and went to my piano lessons (where I thankfully accepted the tea my teacher always offers). Afterwards, I had to go to cheer practice, though, and I was a little scared, but my nose was actually lots better and I didn't really feel sick. So I went and it was intense, as always. My nose didn't get runny, luckily, and I made it through practice alright. Then, however, I had to drive home for an hour by train and then got on my bike for the last bit and it was frickin' cold and raining! As I said, I felt lots better than in the morning, but some part of me realized that driving through the rain and getting completely soaked might...you know, not be the smartest thing to do. I didn't have much of a choice, though. When I got home, I drank a lot of tea and even had chicken soup for dinner! I mean, come on, how much more responsible do you expect me to be? I went to sleep as soon as I could, too!

Friday: That's today. I woke up with a horrible, painful cough and totally congested! It's just not fair! I thought I was over it, but no, it comes back with vengeance! I'd been hiding it all from my parents, but when I hacked up half a lung this morning, I suppose they may have noticed something! Later my mom came in and asked me how I was doing. Dude, I was so embarrassed! I realized that lying would be stupid, so I said: "Not good." She asked what was wrong, but I just couldn't say it... So I just shrugged and answered: "You don't want to hear the details."

So now it's back to lots of tea and cough drops and blowing my nose a lot...

What is this thing?! A mutant hybrid of tonsillitis, mono, a head and a chest cold? It's a medical mystery. We need House!!

Needless to say, the only good thing about this are the sweet texts I get from my boyfriend.

The title of this obs alone was totally fun and entertaining, and I love the amount of detail you've gone into. It's rare and precious to see someone put such a lot of effort into an observation.

I knew I wasn't the only one! Every time I get a cold it does this weird "can't make up its mind as to what it's going to do to me" kind of thing. I agree, it really kinda sucks. I hope you feel better soon! Thanks for sharing. Also, I don't know if you did it on purpose, but I smiled at the Frozen reference. :P

no, you made entertaining. I liked it. I hope feel better soon

And yes, I can totally relate to not being able to tell my parents that I'm sick. I just can't do it. I can't even say "I don't feel good" I just suck it up, and it's my mom's job to choke it out of me.

Like I said, it probably wasn't even intentional, but that's the first thing I thought of when I read that line. Haha.

Hahaha...! Yes, that's exactly what happened! Thank you for the nice comment! And the Frozen reference was honestly unintentional! :P You had me wondering what you meant! (I kept searching my own text for something related to that song "Let It Go", which is about the only thing I know about Frozen. Haha...)

Hehe...thanks! (: And...I also didn't get what the Frozen reference was! laugh.gif

Okay... update (in case you still care^^). It's been a week and my cold is still going strong. But at least it has settled and stopped throwing random symptoms at me that would confuse the heck out of any med student. :P

It has now restricted itself to making me cough. But cough a lot. It started like three days ago and it's that painful kind of a cough that shakes you and makes your lungs feel all worn-out. I can handle it by drinking a ridiculous amount of tea and also consuming cough drops in quantities that can't be healthy, but ya know, I get by like that. However, if I talk to people, which I've been forced to do lately, because I've been meeting people, my throat gets really dry and I get actual fits that go on for like 10 minutes and leave me all exhausted and miserable... :/

I could deal with that, if only it wasn't so darn embarrassing!! I mean, we were having lunch with some old friends of ours and the conversation was actually pretty entertaining, but I had to leave the table (hectially, blushing like crazy) three times to hide in the bathroom until the coughing fit stopped! At some point our friend asked if I was okay... Man, that was bad.

Another time I was talking to a girl (my boyfriend's brother's girlfriend...did you get that? Haha) and she's really nice and I was telling her a story, when my voice sort of cracked and I started coughing and I couldn't even say anything! I just ran inside and stayed there for the next 15 minutes, while the cough had its way with me! :( My boyfriend then came and brought me tea and rubbed my back and held me...that kind of helped.

Anyway. I'll be fine. At least this cold has made up its mind. Happy Easter, my friends! Hope you...at least sort of enjoyed this update! :blush:bye.gif

aw that's unfortunate. I used to get those horrible coughs when I was little.

I hated it because I was fine except for that darn cough. I would have to suppress it in class and I would end up practically choking. SO I totally know how yo feel
